Palo Duro Canyon State Park - Texas

We just got back from a week at Palo Duro Canyon near Amarillo.

It was very nice, but very hot!!

There's a lot to do there, and we tried to do it all.

It looks like the park is surrounded by mountains, but you actually camp down in the bottom of the canyon.

As usual in Texas, we had some spectacular sunsets.

We did the 6 mile hike to the Lighthouse.

Nice Pics!

PDC is one of my 2 favorite parks in Texas. Right behind Davis Mountains.

Thanks guys. It was great!!

Ed, you're down there near one of our favorite parks...Cagle on Lake Conroe. Nice!!
Our oldest son lives at The Woodlands (small apartment), so we camp at Cagle to visit.

Greg, I agree about Davis Mtn SP. Definitely in our top 3!!

I've seen Cagle, but never been there. A follow RVer has though, and really liked it as well! I reckon we'll have to try it sometime.

The Palo Duro Canyon State Park is a beautiful park in Texas which contains 29,182 acres of the scenic, northern most portion of the Palo Duro Canyon. The Canyon is 120 miles long, as much as 20 miles wide, and has a maximum depth of more than 800 feet. Its elevation at the rim is 3,500 feet above sea level. It is the second largest canyon in the United States. The mountain area is so eye catching and famous for hiking and trekking activities.
The park is also famous for horse riding and other thrilling and adventurous activities for visitors. The Canyon Gallery Gift Shop is located in the El Coronado Lodge at Palo Duro Canyon State Park has a unique collection of hand-etched horse hair pottery.
