PC Based Mapping software

Ok I got a new laptop and running Windows 7 home. (NO COMMENTS!)
My old Streets and Trips program will not load into my new computer. ARG!!

So the questions is: What PC based mapping program (not internet or Goggle) do you use for planning? I have used Street and Trips for years and have had good success with it. we do not always have an internet connection so need a stand alone mapping program.

Please help!!

We have iphones and t(Have taken me places I knew were wrong.) Work ok-ish in a city but not in the county mush less back country. They suck! The Maps and GSP never NEVER work right... are wrong MOST of the time.

I am looking for a PC based software like Streets and Trips that I can use for planning and looking at maps and not HAVE to have to be connected to the internet. Many times we are somewhere we have NO phone service much less internet service.

I use Streets & Trips 2013 on my win7 laptops. Upgraded from s&t 2007 since 2013 is the last release and they will be dropping support at some point.

I too prefer a PC based solution but with s&t going away it looks like only online options will remain. Hope I am wrong...

Frank - the problem with Streets and Maps is they are no longer updating it and not selling it. Otherwise I would get that. I loved Streets and Maps for years... easy to use.

I have used Delorme maps for trip planning since the 286 days. It is not too expensive and I update it every 2 or 3 years. I use it to plan routing, daily driving distance, etc, I don't always follow it's lead perfectly once I b get on the c trip, but it is a great planning tool for me. I use it in conjuction with Allstays to find campgrounds in the area we want to stop.

While it gives you a routing option for fastest, or scenic routes, it does not always map outbthe exact route I want to take. I like the ability to identify "vias" force it to the preferred route, such as side roads. I wish it had clearances but I can usually get them from Allstays.

I donusually b take the W7 laptop with me to stay f ok exile along the way.

I have the Allstays app on my tablet (about $10) but it is also available online.

I use Copilot HD Premium on my IPad with a Bluetooth GPS dongle. Works great, even on the road.

I also have used Delorme in the past and found it to be very accurate at the street level. Good when towing, also very good when not towing.
