When / if we stop at PFJ (or any truck stop) it is very important to NOT park in the main auto part of the parking lot. (if they do not have dedicated rv spots). Last week I saw someone in a 36' rig that blocked about 6 parking spaces and put ALL 3 slides out. A few things that we like about Pilots are CLEAN Restrooms, GREAT Showers if we want one for only about $12, and good food Cinnabon's Subway and others.

Thanks for all the replies, I did find out too that certain Cabela's will allow to stay overnight as long as there's no overnight parking ordinance . Most of them have RV dumping stations, and have kennels for your pets if you want to visit the store, I always visit!!

Stayed at truck stops (flying J too) all the time when going cross country. Stay out of the big rigs way and 'blend' in, almost all are fine with it. Flying J has a relationship with Good Sams, so it would seem that they expect to have RVs there.

Spent the night at Camping World, electric/water/dump station...... had to have some work done on my unit, pulled in after their 'Techs' were gone for the day and received permission to 'camp' for the night, they said if we wanted to 'grill' outside to 'go for it'.

Stayed at flying J in the RV parking area never put the slide out never did anything but roll into bed, ate breakfast in their restaurant out of a feeling of obligation for allowing us to stay, felt safe as one can.

Thought about it but haven't stayed at one. We actually prefer Cracker Barrel, very quite, usually only one other person. Not too worried about safety, they are usually in a good location, we actually found out last week from a manager at one we stayed at that they leave a cleaning crew inside all night so one would hope that any type of commotion would attract some attention. He stated that all cracker barrels do that. We just call and verify that they are ok with us staying. Actually I am typing this from a Cracker Barrel parking lot now.

We have stayed at flying j, pilot, cracker barrel, Texas road house, golden corral and have blended in with 18 wheelers at rest areas and have NEVER felt unsafe.

Stayed twice at Cracker Barrels and would stay there every chance I get while traveling to and from. We try to park next to a curb so we can pop out without taking up another space. The managers are always friendly and needless to say, we eat there every chance we get. No noise at all after hours. A slamming dumpster lid at 10:00 PM did cause me some concern once as the cleaning crew was finishing up.

I drop the legs to reduce strain on truck springs, don't put out sides when dark and truck stop busy you could lose your slide.. Unplug trailer from your vehicle.

We stayed at one once in western PA. Only slept a few hours on the way home from a Maine trip. Seemed ok was loud from the trucks but the price was right got some shut eye and rested up for the next day.

I have been to a local Walmart twice now, there has been at least 3 units parked in the lot each time, one was a Sunseeker....

Never have stayed at a Pilots or Flying J but do like the amenities for fueling at FJ. I'd rather stay in a camp ground that's why I bought a camper. Later RJD

x3. even a in/out campground is preferable. they always have locals living there watching for characters.

truckers may be indifferent to rv's but they are working and all business.

as far as Walmart, really? very few are in what I consider family safe areas. have you ever looked at the folks in those lots? we shop there frequently. I ALWAYS park way out where a clear view of my RV is available. I cannot imagine what goes on at 3am 😖
