Rand McNally 7730
Do any of you all have this GPS? If so how do you like it? My wife and I have a 5th wheel that is 13'6" tall and would really like to avoid low bridges etc. We live in Va and are wanting to take a trip to Branson MO this year.

I have the Rand McNally 7735 which is basically what you have. I like it but have not been anywhere to worry about low clearances. It displays the speed limit on what ever road you are on but it is not 100% accurate, more like 95%. What is irritating is the voice on the GPS saying " speed warning " when you are traveling 3 MPH over the speed limit. A lot of times I turn the volume off until I want to hear direction. I set it for the height of my FW and the length of my TV and camper. Over all I really like it. DW and I are planing to take a trip out west from the Richmond, Va area and back.

You can adjust that warning to whatever you wish. You can also turn off the warning.

I have a slightly older version of this Rand McNally and the one thing I don’t like about it is in bright daylight the screen is very hard to see. I don’t know if they have improved that in the later versions.
One thing you want to do for sure is hook the GPS up to your computer and download the latest maps. This is a “must do” in my opinion.

You can change the speed limit warning on your Rand McNally. From the main menu tap RV Tools and then tap Warnings. Scroll down until you find Speed Limit Warning and increase or decrease it.

I have the 7710 am happy with it. This was the first for Rand McNally. The latter ones are better.
Asking which one is best is like a Chevy Ford thing. People tend to recommend what they spent their money on. In my opinion the RM and the Garman are a must and both will do a good job for you.

I have the 7735 so far it works OK the only problem is you cannot use the rand Mcnally trip maker function because it is the good sam version you have to use Good sams trip maker which requires you to have their membership. I really wish I had known that before I bought it. I like the fact you can make your trip and down load it to the GPS. Other than that it has worked for me but the way I went I knew the way but it kept trying to take me back the other way. I mean 125 miles to go back to where it wanted me to go? I always check the route before leaving home with a paper map first and google maps.

I don't have a gps for rv's yet. I have a old TomTom but it doesn't have the settings for rv's. I'm really in the market before we take our trip to Branson. I wanted to see what you all had and how you liked them. I'm leaning toward the Rand McNally but really haven't made my mind up yet.

X2 on the 7710 and I am happy with this unit also.
What I like about the unit I have is you are able to input everything about towing /driving an RV. Such as; total length, height, weight, number and size of propane bottles and number of trailers/tow behind. I have been using my unit for the last 5 or 6 years now. I have been thinking of an up-grade to a later version of the Rand McNally GPS.

No! I damaged my front AC slightly, dished in the top cover, unit still works.

CAUTION - My RM 7720 RVND GPS unit will only warn of low clearances IF you are on a programmed route from A to B. If you are just driving around with the GPS Map screen on, it WILL NOT warn you of low clearances. Your newer model may be different, but please verify. Otherwise I really like the unit and it's search feature.

We took a look at the Rand McNally and, while Rand McNally is the Mack Daddy of the printed map world, I'd go with a Garmin RV GPS. Garmin just announced (this week) the release of the RV770LMT - the successor to the RV760LMT.
We have had our 760 for several years now and have nothing but good things to say about it.

Hi, My Cedar Creek 34RL, Hathaway edition is 13'6" with the front mounted AC unit. Without the AC unit this is right around 13' at the highest point. If you have the front AC, I would measure from the top of the AC to the ground on level a surface to see what your dimension is.

I have the GPS noted and can't you set it to a certain hight? I measure the real hight add at least 6 inches and set it for that. I know that I once set it to avoid tunnels because in some places you are not allowed to go thru tunnels with propane. As we approached the Mobile Tunnel on IH 10 it direct us north on some interstate. I knew that was the wrong way and you can take propane thru the Mobile Tunnel.

On our first extended trip snow birding. Spent many days planning the routes and stops
usung both the Rand McNally & Good Sam trip maker programs to use in our RVND7730
GPS. Seems the GPS has a mind of itss own and doesnt use the routes I planned and
uploaded. I even have printouts of the detailed routes. But the GPS isnt using them &
routing me on different roads. It doesnt seem to matter what I select in the 7730
prefrences (shortest vs quickest). No option for "use uploaded route". Tried breaking it up into individual trips instead of multi-point trips and still does it. Anybody
expereience this problem?

We were in the Branson area last June. Easy drive from St. Louis.
We stayed at the COE campsite at Indian point.
We had the national pass. Big lovely sites. Nice swim area. Cheap. As I remember less than$20 a night. Clean and neat. Tremendous location near all activities. No sewers. No low bridges. Our Cedar Creek 34RE is at least 13’ 6” tall. But, damn, some of those hills down there are steep. Our diesel lost its mind. Made noises I never heard before. Tons of stuff to do. Gets hot in the summer.
Been going down there since the 50’s. My dad liked to fish at Table Rock lake. I played with my toys in a 15’ aluminum boat. We were at Silver Dollar city opening day. The cave is a neat experience.

We have the Rand 7725 which is an older model. We hate it! It is clunky to operate and SLOW compared to our old Gamin which was ancient! We also find it not very intuitive and selects some rather odd routes to travel. You may have it for shipping cost!
