Prarie Creek SP, Jedidiah Smith SP and Samuel P. Taylor SP are our favorites.
No hookups of course.

Ancient Redwoods RV Park
Ancient Redwoods RV |
We stayed there for a week this past past summer...centrally located on the "Avenue of the Giants"
a smaller park but would recommend because of easy access
from there we headed north to Patrick's Point State Park...go if you have time, the north coast is so beautiful Good Luck!

We stayed at the Azalea Glen RV Park - Trinidad's Garden Park - 707-677-3068
It was very nice and wild blackberries were everywhere. Great on cereal in the morning and mixed into pancakes. The management was great as well as the folks there. Just a touch south is a very nice restaurant.
(Larrupin Café 1658 Patricks Point DR) although is a little on the pricy side, DW absolutely loved it!!!
A lot of choices to make, plan on spending time checking things out as it will probably not be enough time. Lots of exploration to be had. Be sure to check out the "Avenue of the Giants" if possible. You can enter from the North and do a loop drive to the South exit and cruise back through. We plan on heading back out in that area when we get the chance to.

It's been years since I've been in that area. I forget the name of the campground I stayed at while in Crescent City but, looking at the AllStays Camp & RV App, I see there are 27 campgrounds in Crescent City. The CG I stayed at was just east of a marina. The sea lions / seals were barking 24/7.
If you don't have the AlllStays App, BUY IT! Well worth the money. It's available for iOS & Android. Best $10 you'll invest.

Felton CA - Santa Cruz RV Resort
Santa Cruz Redwoods RV Resort in Felton, CA 95018
We stay twice a year, spring and fall for 2 weeks. Cute town with lots of things to do in the area and 6 miles from Santa Cruz. Park has full hook ups with a free WiFi that actually works.
We use hwy 17 to come into Felton as Hwy 9 is not recommended for RV's. Shopping is close by along with many other attractions.

We did the coastal trip to the Redwoods last summer. Towed a 23 ft Wildwood trailer and brother-in-law towed a 26' Outback trailer.
If you drive through San Francisco, take the bypass highway to the bridge. There is no toll going north on the bridge; you only pay coming south. Once across the bridge we drove north a ways and then headed toward the coast and stayed at Bodega Bay RV for two nights. Lots of rules in this park, but clean and quiet. We drove up the coast exploring from there. Definitely go to Ft Ross during your explorations. It's an old Russian fort right on the bluff. Easily spent 1/2 a day there. Lots of history and beautiful views.
Our plan had been to continue up HWY 1 but upon driving the truck during our day trips, we decided no way would be pull the trailer to Ft Bragg on that narrow, winding road. We instead headed east to the 101 again, then north and then back west to Ft Bragg. Nice drive and really not any longer than driving the winding coast. We stayed at Pomo RV Park in Ft Bragg (just south of downtown) which was our favorite park on our trip. We were over on the north side so each spot was surrounded by trees/shrubs. We were in sites 23 and 24. Sites were wide, roads also wide. they don't take credit cards there and you have to mail them a deposit check for one night. We toured Ft Bragg. Went to Glass Beach (be sure to go during low tide). Rode the Skunk Train (which is highly over-rated) and explored town and the local brewery.
From Ft Bragg we again headed east to the 101 as HWY 1 is not recommended for trailers (plus there are logging trucks flying down the mountain). Drove north to Myers Flat and stayed at Ancient Redwoods RV Park. Terrible place. (Enjoy the aroma of pot!) Lots of tent campers and transients come into the park to use the laundry and showers at all hours of the night. I think they share the bathroom code. Also, you can't go in the river or allow your pets near as there is a toxic algae bloom due to the drought. Nice website, but didn't like the park at all. I would avoid it. We had paid for 5 days so we just stayed there. Also, there is a winery nearby that was the worst we had ever visited. Every tasting tasted like vinegar. We spit them all out into the jug provided. The woman who was there acted like it was an inconvenience to serve us (no one else was there!). We had visited numerous wineries in Paso Robles on the way up and enjoyed every one of them. The Redwoods are wonderful to walk in so make sure you have plenty of time for exploring. Take one day and go to Ferndale, a lovely little old Victorian town to the north. The coast is beautiful.
Our next trip is Colorado in September and definitely looking forward to that.

Having lived in Redwood country for over 20 years of my life, I prefer the state parks in the Redwoods region.
That's why I listed the ones in my previous post. You really feel like you're in a redwood forest, as opposed to the commercial campgrounds.
But if you have to have hookups, you're stuck with the commercial ones.

We have stayed at the Ancient Redwoods RV Park and liked it very much. It is at the north end of the Avenue of the Giants. Close to many must see sights.

If you don't do Elk Country, you will be missing the amazing near daily show of Roosevelt elk strolling within spitting distance of your camper.
Literally.....this is NO joke.
Welcome to Elk Country Rv Resort and Campground

There's a meadow next to the campground where the elk herd graze and relax. They'll often stroll through the campsites.
And you can take a short drive to the ocean, where bachelor elk live on the beach. The famous Fern Grotto is nearby.

Redwoods in north ca
Looks like you have lots of suggestions. We stayed at Humboldt Woods State Park and had an enjoyable experience. It is near the Miranda (happens to be my granddaughter's name). It is off hwy 101 in northern CA. Enjoy.

Resident heard of 50 elk we saw at different places in the campground and along the roadway each day. Didn't see any around Prairie Creek but the scenic parkway was outstanding, as was the ave of the giants. Lots of good hiking in both places.

Depending on where you start your tour north of San Francisco, we would recommend the KOA in Petaluma which is in the heart of some great wine and cheese tasting outlets, and is also the home of Lagunitas Brewing Company. If you are beer-lovers like me, try their "Around the World" sampler of 16 separate tasters - - I dare you, but have a designated driver.
Farther north there are several options near Mendocino, Caspar Beach RV Park in a picturesque cove just north of town, or Pomo campground at Fort Bragg. We love both. Make sure you tour the lighthouse just north of the town of Mendocino, and inspect the restored homes of the keepers staff.
A short drive north will take you to Riverwalk RV park just off US 101 near the village of Fortuna. This is one of the nicest RV parks we have ever stayed, and is an easy drive into the village of Ferndale, a must see along the NorCal coast. Classic Victorian homes and B'n'B's.
Up in Eureka we've stayed at Mad River Rapids Campground and thoroughly enjoyed the access to giant Redwoods and the restored Victorian mansions. Easy day trips to several notable displays of the giant trees.
I would recommend including in your travel plans a visit to Lassen Volcanic Park, and stay at the KOA near Shingletown, CA. It is not large, but situated in a lovely forest setting and very friendly staff. Easy drive to Lassen, Subway Cave and Burney Falls - - -must see's all. Shingletown also boasts a great local market that is a combination food market and Ace Hardware!!
Enjoy!!

Emerald Forest in Trinidad. We stayed in a cabin there several years ago but have since purchased a Itasca Meridian 34Y. Can't wait to take her back to the Emerald Forest. It's magical. You won't be disappointed.
