Roof mount spoiler

Would a roof mounted spoiler on my GMC Sierra actually give me better gas mileage with a travel trailer? Verses without one. Went from 13.8 with a popup to 8.1 with a 33' travel trailer. Anything I can do to improve that?

In my humble opinion, if you are looking to get in the neighbourhood of your previous mileage average you are probably looking at a diesel tow vehicle. You have gone from something that was light to a considerably heavier unit! Just my two cents.

That's why I was trying to find out from someone who has actually measured their mileage both ways. Didn't want to waste good money on something that really doesn't work.

Save your money.I had one years ago and couldn't tell any difference in MPG.Only thing that changed was the bug line on the front of the camper was higher up.

Issue 799 of the RV Travel Newsletter had an article on these. Bottom line, unless the deflector is very close to the trailer, you will be wasting your money. There comment was based on some scientific studies.

lol. I kind of figured that. It's like the myth about getting better mileage on the truck by taking the tailgate off. Thanks for the input. Great camping everyone .
