Silver City Idaho
Founded sometime around 1863, Silver City is located in the far Southwest corner of Idaho at an elevation of approximately 6300'. During its heyday Silver city served as the Owyhee county seat with a population of nearly 2500. The town had nearly a dozen streets, 75 businesses, 300 homes, a grand hotel (The Idaho Hotel), several newspapers and even a brewery. Today many of the buildings still exist in a state of arrested decay. During the summer months one can still book a room at the Idaho Hotel. Rooms are available from around $75 a night on up by calling the Hotel at (208) 583- 4104. Due to it's remote location, Silver City is almost completely snowbound in the winter months, and the summer months can be very hot. This is one of our favorite areas to explore, the pics were taken from our 2006 trip.
