I have only traveled the east coast with speed limits up to 70mph.

A large majority of the time, I travel right between 62 and 64mph regardless of what the speed limit is.

65

65 is my max speed, interstate, US highway, doesn't matter
I try and stay in the 3rd lane from the fast lane if it's four lane or middle if it's three lane

65

For states with a split speed limit do the lower one.

If you tow a trailer then 65 is gonna be near max so between that an 60.

And I note this is your first post so welcome to the forums.

Stay to the right and you should be fine, IMO.

If you hold at 60mph and stay to the right lane...you'll be comfortable and no one will bother you...as they all fly by at 80mph or faster

Most interstates have a minium speed limit. Many times it is 45 MPH and even trucks who can't get to that speed going up hill are required to put on their flashers if they fall below that speed.
Many years ago driving with my father thru MD he was stopped by a trooper for going to slow and when the trooper asked why he was driving so slow he replied that he had just got on the interstate and was building up his speed. The trooper responded " no I have been following you for three miles and you are driving to slow, if you want to drive that slow got off the interstate and go 301".

I'd MUCH rather pass some slow rig on the freeway than a skinny twisty hilly two lane HWY.

Speed

I try to drive at 55 to 60 in Montana. We don't have the best roads here, narrow, hilly, and sometimes rough. The truck traffic is usually faster than I am, but, so what. Drive at the speed you're most comfortable.

60 to 62 mph seems for me to be good on gas, comfortable, not hinder traffic, and be able to relax, and sip my coffee.

Towing 32' 5th wheel with Ford F350 6.2 gasser, 55 - 60 MPH on the interstate, when you start going faster is when you start getting blowouts since most camper tires are only rated for 55. No matter how fast you get there we are all after the same goal

I've never heard that most are rated to 55. Almost everything I've read is 65 with a few exceptions to 70 (Greenball ST tires, for instance).

While I could drive faster, the "sweet spot" for my RAM 3500 Cummins towing our Cedar Creek 38FL is right at 65. Get a steady 10 - 11 MPG. At 70mph, fuel consumption goes down to 9mpg or less, depending on terrain. If you do the math, an extra 5 mph over 8 hours only puts you 40 more miles down the road.....who's in that kind of hurry?

65 on dry freeways and normal traffic. Adjust my speed for whatever conditions warrant and I feel comfortable at. Not wrecking saves a whole lot of time.
