Lost the hitch pin between Great Falls and Waterton some years back. Lucky the hitch stayed put. The feeling upon realizing it was gone is indescribable. DW could hardly believe I had a spare.

I suppose the propane tank coming off the trailer doesn't count since we recovered that one.

I lost a couple of St. Croix fishing rods a couple years ago. Stuck them under the camper overnight just to keep them out of sight so they didn't disappear on me. Forgot about them when we broke camp and drove off with them still laying on the ground. I didn't even realize they were missing until 2 weeks later.

Left behind items

I never lost anything in the road (knock on wood), but I did leave behind a nice brass “Y” hose connector with a pressure regulator on one end and a check valve on the other.

I’m more diligent in making sure I have everything before I leave the campsite.

Lost my sewer slinky.

After driving for several miles of dragging my half-escaped "stinky slinky" through New Mexico, a driver alerted me to my dire situation.. Needless to say, that big sewer snake had very little skin left by the time I pulled over.... After replacing my skinned sewer hose and pressing in new bumper caps, I drilled a 1/4 inch hole though the top and bottom of my square bumper bar with the new caps installed so I could pass a long spring ball clevis pin through from top to bottom and keep the caps as well as the new hose in place. Simple, cheap fix, but very effective..

Hub cap on the right side rear tires. I should have put it on better after checking the tire pressure. I actually saw it fly off. To much traffic to be trying to retrieve it.

I lost the bag awning off of a popup once. Retraced my steps, but nowhere to be found.

As much time as I spent in a patrol car I wish it had been an RV. I actually lost the light bar off the roof of a car. A nice citizen stopped to tell me the mile post where I could retrieve it.

A fender skirt. Got to the CG in Rawlins, WY and it was gone. We had some strong winds as we travelled west bound. I guess a big gust ripped it off.

We moved two years ago.
I lost a 72" x 2" wide aluminum straight edge
A 2 ton chain fall
a 40' chain with hooks
A set of halogen flood lights on a 3' pedestal
A few more items of pulleys and cables

I cannot for the life of me realize how we missed those large profile items. Called the new owner of our old house and not one thing was anywhere to be found. Go figure

Brass Y connector for the water spigot - Santa Cruz Redwoods RV Resort.

Portable Progressive Industries 30 amp surge protector - Tucumcari, NM KOA. We had a before dawn departure time and I missed it in the dark. I now have a hard-wired one in my rig.

A portable hammock - Pismo Coast Village RV Resort, Pismo Beach, CA. The site next to us had a young boy that kept riding his bicycle through our campsite. I politely asked the parents to have him not do that. The next morning they left early and helped themselves to our hammock as they left.

Someone stole our sewer hose out of the bumper storage on my 2nd RV.
Lost a large mat for camping out of the back of my truck.
A camping neighbor had 4 of his chairs stolen before morning. They searched the entire campground and found nothing. The rangers said a camper two sites up the road left before the sun came up.

It’s sad that you have lock stuff up at a camp site . Now Many full time campers have cameras on all sides of there rig, you can order a new RV with a camera system installed with a wireless monitor to put where ever you are.
