Toll Roads

So I traveled 34 miles of the toll road section of I-70 in Kansas with our trailer in tow and it costs me $5.00. I traveled 27 miles of the toll road E-470 in Colorado and according to their website I will be billed $28.35 for 4 axles. Me thinks Colorado is ripping people off.

I fly into Denver for business all the time and E-470 is a rip off, unless you need to get to the airport during rush hours and leave late forget it.

It's been 17 days since we used E-470 and still no bill in the mail. I wonder if I'm going to get lucky and catch a break.

Give'em time. You will get a bill!! You can count on one hand how many times I've been on that road because it's so expensive. There are many ways to bypass E-470 and Denver for that matter. Just have to get a map and make a plan. If your on I-70 and wanting to go north of Denver on I-25, Look north of Bennett for a town called Prospect Valley and from There you can look at several routes to get onto I25. That's what we do and you don't have the traffic and can miss Denver all together.

If it takes much longer I won't even remember being in Colorado. My memory isn't as good as it used to be. I know I can pay online but I never voluntarily give my money away. I want to see the physical bill and then I'll pay. Course I'm still hoping they missed me.

Well, it's been two months since we drove E-470 in Colorado and we still haven't been billed. Not that I'm complaining, but I don't think that a toll road without toll booths works very well.

You're sounding very guilt-ridden...you should just remit the toll so you'll feel better!

You sound like a hypnotist Dave. I can see you waving a shiny object back and forth in front of my eyes repeating that phrase over and over until I pay the toll. The company that operates that toll road should hire you.

Toll roads in Florida, expensive, easy to pay etc. Going to FL this winter and haven't driven on them before.

Thanks

We're heading out next weekend to NH so we'll be doing a long stretch on the I90 toll road. It'll cost about $50 each way and as it's not A ETR, you pay in full at the exit. No chance of a feebie there!

Try driving the 407 in Ontario. Has to be the most expensive private toll road in the world and the lucky taxpayers of Ontario gave it to the private owners courtesy of our Provincial government.

I avoid toll roads at all costs! (pun intended). It would have cost me $30 round trip in tolls this weekend if i didn't take back roads. Took an extra 15-20 min. But it was worth it. And i got better gas mileage too.

That highway is in Toronto. That is not indicative of Canada. I would stay away from there too , for several reasons, other than tolls.

You could take the 401 and avoid the 407 but then you would have to deal with the heavy traffic, large trucks driven by new "Canadians" and a lot more stress. The only highway worst then the 401 in Toronto is the 40 in Montreal. The 401 has 12 lanes were as the 40 only has 4.

I'd pay high road tolls any day if it meant being able to live in the best country on the planet! Small price to pay.
