We are talking about trying to head up to Traverse City this summer.
Will be our first long trip with this trailer from KCMO. Any suggestions on where to stay, what to see etc.

They have a state park in town or KOA just south. July 4th weekend big cherry fest. Plenty to do and see, great downtown area.

Best Home Made Ice Cream
MOOmers Homemade Ice Cream - Just a Little Taste of Country
Excellent homemade ice cream, not to be missed. We also love the State Park there even though you have to go across the pedestrian bridge to reach the beach. Downtown you can kayak/canoe the canals to go shopping too. The light houses and wineries in the area are great also. A ton to do in the area.
BUT DON'T MISS THE ICE CREAM!!!!!

Funny story about the cherry festival. We were up in Traverse City site seeing when we saw a man mowing grass in a cherry tree orchard. He told us about the cherry festival but also told us they had to bring the cherries in from California because the cherries in Traverse City are not ripe until August/September.

We have a local Culvers. Eat lunch there at least once a week. Only do the custard once a month otherwise I would have to trade to a bigger truck!!
Thanks for the reply's, keep them coming making a list.

Oh my, I have a heartfelt fondness for Holsteins!! Spent many an hour washing udders on my uncle's dairy farm as a kid. As well as bottle feeding the calves (best part).
I also remember they use to have a place in Odessa called the "Ice Cream Factory". Home made ice cream, one of the first back in the 60's and 70's. Wish I could go back to my child hood from time to time. Maybe a visit to MOOmers will do it!
Thanks again.

Used the KOA as our home base visiting the area last year, must hit the Traverse City Pie Company, and Cherry Republic also. Sleeping Bear Dunes and Fishtown in Glen Arbor, were on the list also with lunch at the Cheese Shanty (cash Only). I would do that trip again, wonderful area.

Grand Traverse Pie Company is a nice place to have a meal and, of course, pie.
The winery tours in the Leelanau peninsula are very nice, offering taste tests.
The Lake Leelanau RV Park is a great place to stay, having full hookups, the nicest showers I've ever seen in a campground, and an all-you-can-eat ice cream social every Saturday night. You just need to bring your own bowl, and they supply the ice cream and all the toppings.

Get out on Lake Michigan and catch one of these:
See the sights while on the lake. Neat lighthouse:
Check out the sunset
Go see the 'Most Beautiful Spot in America' (not sure who voted on it, but it is pretty).
And say hi to two of our very best friends!!

We stay at Timber Ridge most of the time. It is on the south east side of town closer to Acme. We also have stayed at Holiday Park and it is nice if you can get a lake lot. Most are taken by seasonal campers. It is closer to Interlocken on the west side of town. We do not like the State Park as it is always full and hard to get into and a lot of traffic in town when pulling a large RV. Our son is a pilot out of TC so we are there quit often to visit. We just looked into another CG closer to Empire called Indigo Bluffs we might try in May.

Awesome want to go!!
Thanks for all the info.
Currently we are at Tanglewood Park. One of the nicest parks we have been in so far. I highly recommend it if your in the Winston/Salem area. It's an old park, Forsyth county runs it and they are very serious about keeping it nice. No tents, no drive through traffic.
$33 bucks a night with FULL hookups plus cable (if I can figure how to get it to work).

It's a must to go down to platte River and tube or kayak out to the Lake Michigan. Very fun. Water is crystal clear. Need at least one kayak or canoe to tow the tubes across loon lake. It's not very far and is a beautiful lake. I saw the largest turtle I ever saw in loon lake. Very safe probably takes about 2-3 hours.
