Trip is booked! 9 weeks to go...

So, my friends and family are so over this trip and me talking about it, I figured I should mention it here where it will get the proper amount of respect!

I'm just so excited - I have booked our 'western adventure' for 5 weeks of fun on the road with the kids this summer. We've been planning this trip for almost 2 years and saving the pennies and I can't believe it's really almost here!

We're starting out after school gets out and heading straight out I-40 to the Grand Canyon for our 2 day mule train trip to Phantom Ranch. (check that off the bucket list...) After a few days recovery, we're heading up to Mesa Verde, Colorado Springs/Pike's Peak, Grand Tetons, Yellowstone, then turning east towards home.

On the way back we're hitting Devil's Tower, Badlands, Mt Rushmore, stopping in Minneapolis to visit friends, then down through IL, a stop at Mammoth Cave and then pulling it on home.

We've got lots of national parks and monuments on the agenda.

Total nights camping... 33
States on the schedule.. 18
Total miles - somewhere around 7,000

Not sure what over a month of togetherness with myself and the 4 kids will do to us (hubby will fly in for a week or so, then fly back home from another stop along the way), but regardless if it's fun or misery we'll have endless memories and adventures to tell!

Can't wait to hitch it up!

Wow - color me WAY jealous! And taking the stereotype route - super impressed that you're doing most of it yourself!

Arlee ,
glad to know I'm not alone on this , we too have a 5 week trip planned, from Mass to Key west to New Orleans then to Nashville back to VA beach and then home about 5000 miles, thirty eight days total and cant wait although family can wait for me to stop planning and talking about it.. All reservations have been made and looking so forward to the unforgetable memories good or bad .... have a great trip keep us updated ....
