Unusual campground septic configuration

Most of our travel/overnight camping is done at KOAs. At the Oakdale WI KOA each full hookup site had three attachment points for septic hookup to allow for various drain point locations without needing an extension. This is the first time I've seen anything like that.

now that's a campground that's looking out for ALL their customers! : ) nice...

compare that to the ones with an outlet 8" above the ground, ones with outlet closer to the neighbors patio than your own site, or the ones without one at all! : )

Several campgrounds I've been at lately have multiple inlet points for sewer.

I also have stayed at CGs that have two connections. May be because of some rvs having two outlets. That would make sense also.

As long as the Land Yacht owners keep their hose out of my sewer connection, all is good. The more connections the merrier. I about died laughing the day one land yacht owner found his sewer hose under his door step the next morning. Glad I was no where near his coach that day.

Oh yea, the 3-inch connection is for the sewer hose and the 4-inch connection is the vent plumbing for the park waste water collection system. If you don't already know, some park owners are not to happy when you dump into their vent plumbing

we have camped there several times in the past. they are set up so that they can have people facing a multitude of different directions on each site. they have one site that is completely backwards too! great place to stay, good pizza!

I agree. Let's charge more for the site(s) with three connections, and less, if you only need one. Now,I have another reason not to stay at KOA CG.

I go to a Camp Ground in Williamsburg Va and they have the center sites set up to either be a pull through or two back in sites. Makes for a very nice long pull through and costs the same.

Then they ought to do a better job of identifying which is which. A simple "Vent Only, Don not dump here" sign would solve the problem. With all the other warning signs I see in most campgrounds why not one at the "vents".

I would think a sewer vent would have a non-removable cap on it to keep campers from doing that.

Stayed at a campground that was built on hill where the sites had been cut in level into the hill. Downside; the sewer and water were on the uphill side so the sewer hose went up hill almost a foot! What a royal pain that was! I finally ended up going to another open site to dump. It was a joy.

Clean-outs would be expected at ground level. To me a vent would extend a fair amount up into the air like the sewer vents in one's home.

I'm not sure I understand the upset though. As long as whatever is dumped doesn't clog the line to the septic tank it all ends up in the same place.

Someone forgot the rule that says that stuff flows downhill.

I knew a plumber years ago that always said he only needed to remember three rules in his job. "S***" flows downhill, Don't bite your fingernails, and Payday's on Friday"

Stayed in a small community park last year that was built on a hill. Luckily we were on the top of the hill. On Sunday when everyone dumped it overwhelmed the system and caused a small geyser at the lowest campsite's dump inlet. Not pretty!!

This further proves that stuff truly does flow downhill.

And yet one more reason why you should NOT leave your gray tanks opened while camping!
