Waves Campground - Waves, NC - OBX

We are heading to the OBX next week and can't wait to start our 12 day trip!

Has anyone stayed at Waves CG?

Is there a laundry on site or nearby?

We already have a long list of things we would like to see and do while there, but we are also looking for input from FRF members: Anything that is must see/must do/must eat on the OBX?

MUST head north to see the wild horses, not so much the horses but the drive up the beach, through the dunes, FANTASTIC! I see you got 4wd, just go up 12 and it will get you right on the beach, just go out on the beach and keep going north, any where from 1-5 miles just head up over one of the dunes, you won't be disappointed, I promise! Also Jockey's Ridge was a good time to hang out at, you got the Wright Bros. Museum. Don't forget to go to the lighthouses, Cape Hatteras by far the best to see, we also took the ferry over to Oacracoke. You guys will have a blast.

Wifey and I stayed there several times. it's a small campground with great beach access and a small pool. It's prolly the least expensive of all the campgrounds on Hatteras Seashore and suit us perfectly fine. I don't recall if they had a laundry room, but I imagine they must. Give them a call. We enjoyed driving from one end of rte 12 to the other and checking out the lighthouses and the 'Graveyard of the Atlantic'.
North Carolina Museum - Graveyard of the Atlantic Maritime History Museum

We have friends that own several Flip-Flop shops in and around Nags Head north on rte 12. They turned us on to Fishbones Sunset Grille and raw bar in Duck. You'll see the most gorgeous sunsets ever. Just get there early and check out the outside bar. Reservations are needed for dinner.
Sunset Grille - Home

Be sure to spend some time in Kitty Hawk to see the Wright Brothers Museum and airfield.
Wright Brothers National Memorial (U.S. National Park Service)

Enjoy! Don't forget the mosquito spray at night. Even though Ocean Waves sprays when it gets bad.....You'll need the Deet.

We are overnighting in Richmond VA at the Elks Lodge on the way down. Then plan on having our lunch at the Wright Brothers Memorial on the way down to Waves. Already checked on oversized parking. We were planning on spending a couple hours there (weather permitting) and then making the final leg to Waves.

Definitely plan on hitting the sand and exploring all the OBX has to offer.

Waves CG seems to be our style... we werent really interested in the larger CGs...

Will stop in for some new threads at the Flip Flop too... LOL

Thanks for the input! Cant wait to hook up and head south!

Just realized we'll be down there at the same time... We're in Kill Devil Hills (not camping... We're at Outer Banks Beach Club) Aug 8th - 22nd. Let's hope for great weather!

Truthfully, I don't recall. If you use 4G you're fine.
