Weekend of the 19th of June
If you are headed to Northern VA on the 19th of June stop by the Smithsonians National Air and Space Museum Steven F. Udvar Hazy Center on RT-28 in Chintilly VA They are having one of there biggest events of the Summer it is call "Become A pilots Day" All types of air craft will fly in to Dulles Airport and taxi over to the Air and Space Museum and park just out side of the Museum for everyone to get up close and talk to the pilots and even get into some of the Air Craft, Last year they had hot air baloon rides, there will also be all kinds of activities going on in side of the Museum for the kids. The Museum opens at 10:00 am, the museum and the event is free but there is a $15.00 parking fee per car load.
Currently Phase II of the Museum is under construction and may be open sometime in August. This Museum is bigger then the one in Washington DC. and is the only Air and Space that has a runway connected to a major Airport. This Air and Space Museum open In 2002 and on the 100 Anniversary of the Right Brother First Flight.....So if you get a chance and you like air planes this is the place to be.
