GARMIN GPS - can't rely on that alone. This past summer, while travellIng in Wisconsin, the GARMIN tried to dump us in the middle of a cornfield! I used the WAZE APP on my phone, which took us right to the campground (20 miles away)

Goggle maps... (on my laptop)
Paper Atlas (in the RV)
Garmin Street Pilot (in the RV)

I never fool with my Iphone while driving... That is distracted driving and in many states it's now a ticket...

Cell phones have their place. Just not while driving.

RV760 (garmin), Allstays Truck and Travel app (finding truck stops for diesel), Google maps, and a Rand McNally Motor Carrier's Atlas. The 760 works very well. You still need to pay attention, though. It doesn't try to take us down residential side streets, etc. Not fool-proof, but close to it.

Paper maps/atlas are a must. Technology can fail, so manual gps comes in handy.

Using Google Maps via the phone does not automatically constitute distracted driving. If it is set up before leaving and not messed with while driving it is no different than factory navigation or portable units. In fact, the main reason I prefer Google Maps over the factory navigation units in both of our vehicles is that does a much better job of directing us verbally...reducing to eliminating the need to look at the screen at all.

Now if you don't have the will power to NOT pick the phone up when a call or text comes in, that is another separate issue in and of itself.

Yes, you are right....forgot to mention - I was the passenger. Also, you can use WAZE at beginning of journey..turn up the volume and you can listen to directions

I remember driving to New Mexico 2 years ago and my co-pilot was using their I phone as a guide... We are driving along (I'm driving) and all of a sudden my navigator says loudly.. We need to be going south west not due west...

Seems as though he was playing a game on his phone and wasn't watching were we were heading....Had to make a detour out through the pucker bush to get back on route..

Wasn't in the RV though. we were going hunting...

I use my wife, who corrects the GPS all the time, with State Maps... easier on me.
