The cypress trees are on the Cache River in Illinois. Most people don't realize that the southern tip of Illinois is farther south than Richmond Virginia.

Here's one of my favorite photographs. Guessing the state would be too easy so what body of water is in the photograph?
I remember when you took that photo. We had stood there a while waiting for the best lighting and reflection. There were a number of other photographers also waiting for "just the right moment." About 5 seconds after you took that shot, a guy came around the bend in his canoe and knocked out any chance of catching the reflection on the lake with photography. I was surprised how well everyone reacted, considering many had been standing there an hour or two setting up their equipment.

It is a place "in the middle of nowhere" as some from the crowded states may call it, no paved road but driveable dirt road. Been there many times.
