Where is this?

Found this place today and was really surprised. Lived in this area for quite a while and never realized that there was such.

It's actually in Georgia. Providence Canyon State Park. It's not far from Columbus, GA. Pretty amazing for this part of the country.

Beautiful picture...wouldn't have guessed Georgia!
Maybe we should start a new sub forum...Guess Where This Picture Was Taken? Just might give us ideas of places to see, things to do...

We just visited Providence Canyon earlier this year. It's just down the road from Florence Marina State Park and it's worth a visit if you're in the area.

I would totally read a sub about where's the pic from. We're always looking for good places to go!

Here's a few from when we visited at the beginning of Sep. The place isn't really that big, but it's pretty cool to visit. They say it happened because of poor farming techniques that led to the erosion.

We stayed the night at Florence Marina...took lots of photos. We didn't hike to the canyon floor, but probably should have...maybe next time.

The sub-forum sounds kind of fun, too.

You got it. Specifically, it is Heron Pond on the Cache River.

We saw some scenery like that in southern IL recently, too. But, that wouldn't have been my first guess. I was going to say somewhere around Tupelo, MS on the Natchez trace parkway. :-) that's a good one!

What Body of Water?

Here's one of my favorite photographs. Guessing the state would be too easy so what body of water is in the photograph?

That's a beautiful photograph. I love Yellowstone and the Tetons, but I can't remember the name of the lakes. :-)

This site has petroglyphs too.

It is a place "in the middle of nowhere" as some from the crowded states may call it, no paved road but driveable dirt road. Been there many times.

That body of water is the Oxbow Bend on the Snake River along hwy 287 in GTNP. The water in the Oxbow is usually very still in the morning and evening offering the chance for a great reflective photo of the mountains.
