Where to comfortably swim at the beach in the winter?
I haven't gotten my salt water beach fix in a while. We are fairly planned out until the end of February. So, I'm thinking late Feb/early March.
Now that we are headed firmly into cool weather, can anyone tell me where I could go (within the continental US) in order to be able to enjoy some sand and salt swimming time? Is it just down in south Florida (Miami-ish)? Anywhere in Texas?

We did the Keys last year at Christmas and it was nice. But there definitely was a cool-ish breeze. We did swim from our private boat dock, though!
Didn't have much in the way of beaches...

Caribbean is a little difficult in the current rig! I'm hopeful that my daughter will be able to surf Christmas Day in San Diego. After that we head for Florida. I think we are going to head for Miami and then the Everglades.

No, but you could take the rig and "park" it somewhere for a week and take off on a cruise. We are doing a week out of NOLA the first week of February.

Shush your mouth! This would be my wife's kind of idea! Which isn't terrible- just can't afford it right now.

The Keys don't have beaches, IMO. The only one(s) were pumped or trucked in; what you will see is a lot of is coral rock. The amazing thing about the Keys is the nearly constant sea breeze... summer time is nice, but sand gnats can be a real issue, but if the breeze is strong and you are right on the water; its nice. If the gnats don't get you, the mosquitoes will, if the mosquitos don't get you the gators will.
The Keys is about boating, fishing and diving. Water temps average 69 - 70 in winter; with Naples about 3 or 4 degrees cooler. I'm biased, I like the Gulf beaches better.
Looks like San Diego and South Padre Island, TX run about 58 - 60 December/January

By March, it is pretty nice on the Florida west coast - nice Gulf Beaches from Sarasota on south. Red Coconut RV Resort in Ft. Myers Beach is right on the beach - if you can get in!

I think they told me that I'm too big for their park at 42'. Or, at least, too big for their beachfront sites.

We get a great 'salt water fix' in the Fort Myers area, when we go to the dog beach. It's wonderful, and our pup loves it. The water is pretty cool, but good for wading. For many years, we would go to Sanibel Island, where the water can be very pleasant (but no campgrounds for RVs if you have a pet). Great campgrounds off-island.

No pets for me. Any idea of air temps in Feb/March?

Go to the NOAA website, select the location then key up its weather history.
Here is a for instance National Weather Service Climate
Click on "archived data" and up the month you want.

Think Gold side in Florida's west coast starting in Fort Myers and working south.
