Where to stay in Daytona Beach and St. Augustine?

We are thinking about spending February in the Daytona Beach, Florida area and March in the St. Augustine area. Can anyone recommend reasonably priced RV parks in the area? All I know is what I can find on Goggle. We would be happy with the basics as price is a consideration.

Since I live in Daytona Beach I don't do much camping close-in. However I do get to visit some of the campgrounds in my work life. If you want close-in to Daytona I would suggest: 1.International RV Park, 2. KOA on Nova Rd., 3. Daytona Beach Carefree. If you don't mind being out a little bit I would suggest Bulow Campground in Flagler Beach. I did stay at International with a group once and was impressed by the overall operation. You might look at campgroundreviews.com. I use that sight a lot when I am traveling.

The Daytona 500 is Feb. 23 a lot of places are booked and rates are increased for the two weeks surrounding the event.

St Augustine

Stayed a few days last week at Stagecoach RV park in St Augustine and was a nice place. All pull thru sites, 50A available, cable and even had WIFI that worked! (most places you can get on but the bandwidth is so small that WIFI is worthless). Maybe a 15 minute drive to downtown historic area

We have stayed at KOA on Nova road in Daytona. Nice park and facilities and as I have found with most KOAs a bit pricier but nice

And Daytona Bike Week is is a couple of weeks later. Big crowds and super inflated prices.

We stayed at both StageCoach in st. augustine and International in Daytona last winter and would stay again at both.
The warnings to consider Race Week & Holiday rates there are well taken. Space dries up and rates soar. I'd note also that at International you are close enough to the track to hear the cars..we were there for the 24 hours race week...unintentionally. Won't make that mistake again but WOULD return to the very nice park with easy access to everything.
My friends in St. augustine tell me that anastasia state park is very nice & we should try to stay there next time. You might want to check that out for a more reasonable alternative.

Enjoyed Stage Coach, nice place, nice people. We went to the Daytona 500 last Feb. and stayed at Speedway KOA, just west of 95, never again. It was like they had your money and don't bother us.

St. Augustine

Have tried Stagecoach and Ocean Grove in St Augustine. Both were great. Stagecoach is further from beach and near I95. Ocean Grove is on Anastasia island and is really nice.

Instead of Daytona take a look at Cocoa or Melbourne . Nice beaches good fishing , only 40 or 50 miles farther south !

Daytona Beach RV parks

Live in the Daytona Beach area and have used multiple camp sights. February prices are super inflated, but highly recommend economy location at Sugar Mill RV site in New Smyrna Beach, next city south of Daytona, that will have all the necessities. International is good, but a high rent location. There's also economical Nova Campground on Madeline in Pt. Orange/Daytona that has basic accommodations.

Speedweeks is from Feb 11 to Feb 21. The 500 is on Sunday the 21st. I booked a site inside the infield. Talk about pricey$$$$$$.

Have stayed at Anastasia SP once for 10 days and OCean Grove twice as a seasonal. ASP is fine as are all FL state parks and it has ocean access. If you want more amenities and activities OG is great too. No direct beach access but close and right on a beautiful marsh. Both parks are closer to St. Augustine than Stagecoach. Would not want to be out near 95 myself.

I live in the Daytona area also and recommend staying away from Daytona during race week or bike week unless that is what you are coming here for.
I usually try to get out of the area during that time because the area is so crowded with race traffic, bikers, and snowbirds. You would be lucky to get into the state parks like Favor Dykes, Gamble Rodgers, or Tomoka
There are several federal parks in the Ocala forest area you could probably get into but they don't have hookups and you are farther from the beach.
Your best best may be the 3 campgrounds in Port Orange (Carefree, KOA, and Nova family) They will keep you somewhat out of the busy areas but in a much more convenient location.
Also, if you are coming down for race week there are a couple makeshift campgrounds that open up on Williamson Blvd in the empty fields near the race track.

As stated above, Feb is two weeks of racing at the Daytona speedway ( and other area tracks) and with Hugh crowds. March is Bikeweek, again allot of people in town! Those events along with the normal snow birds make it kinda tough to get reservations.

Blue Springs state park is about 40 minutes west of the speedway, much quiter, you may want to check that out. Power and water but no sewer hookups.

Good luck!

bobneal69..........

Unless you have a reason to be in Daytona in February, why not swap your destinations and do St. Augustine in February and Daytona in March.

Just sayin'

Love both Anastasia SP & Blue Springs SP in Orange City ... keep in mind that you can only stay 2 weeks in a SP at a time and the snowbirds have got things booked. We live in FL & have booked well in advance just for our weekend getaways thru June 2016....

Indian Forrest Camp Ground in St. Augustine Florida. Stayed here this year and have reservations for next year. Older CG. Full hookups, pull through. Can get transportation to city. Not far from everything. Liked it enough to go back.

Last February, we spent 4 nights at St John's RV Park, which is attached to a very nice flea market. Full HU, 50A was $24.50/night. Nice park, easy access to the interstate. We'd use it again. Enjoy.
