I have driven on this same road! It is very tight. It is important to note the the bus used is a MCI MC9. It is a older bus that has amazing turning radius and the width is 96 inches. The newer coaches are typically 102 inches wide with a equally tight turning radius. However, those coaches are typically taller that the 11 foot height of the MC9. Those are usually 11'6 up to 13' in height.

In any event , only a very experienced driver would attempt the Needles Highway or old Iron Ore Road!

We went through it on out trip out west this year, we were lost. Just before we got into the tunnel it started to hail, hail covered the hood on truck. We were in Custer State Park, lady at the entrance looked and saw my Garmin and told us that would get us lost, what we didn't know was we were already lost. We went on the wildlife loop and that took forever and when we came out the other side was when we got lost. Well you aren't ever lost as long as you have a full fuel tank so you can say we took the scenic tour.

Fun road, but I was not driving a bus either. One heck of a driver in that bus.

I wonder if those vents on top of the bus could be used for escape hatches if it was wedged for a few hours.

I hope there is/would be enough to open then and slide out, window exits are not an option...
