1st Timers from Texas
My wife and I just purchased our first ever TT. We bought a 2005 Flagstaff 26DS. We are pretty excited about the whole escapade. She makes her maiden voyage this weekend to Concan, TX. Any advice, information, or "bumps in the road" that someone may have to share would be much appreciated. Thanks and Happy Camping!

Welcome to the forum. My advice is to find some of the packing lists and set up / takedown lists on this sight. Search the posts and you will find them. They really helped us to make less mistakes. I also suggest keeping a notebook open your first weekend out to write down ideas and needs... It is easy to forget before you get home.
Also .... The first time you pull out, stop at the end of the block and look in your trailer.... You can save some greif by checking to see if everything really is secured the way you think it is.
We did not know to check and had a toaster oven fall down and a loose cupboard door which spewed plates all over.

Just take your time dont get in a hurry set up and tear down the same way every time you go out helps with making things a routine and less thing are forgotten that way and like Hipshot said above all have a good time dont sweat the petty stuff and visa versa

Welcome guys. Concan is a great place for a maiden voyage. How do I know? That's where we took our maiden voyage 5 years ago. We stayed at Parkview Riverside, but it may not be the same as it was then. Dad stayed there a couple of years ago and had a not so good report. Garner State Park is still great though! So, be sure and see the bats there. A spectacular sunset show. And enjoy the Frio River...it's a very beautiful river.

Welcome from central TX. Check out the State Parks. As mentioned, Garner and Inks Lake are really nice and there are serveral others in eastern TX that are also nice. Getting a reservation for a weekend is another issue but if you can get free, week days are always available. Happy camping!

Ed we are staying at the River Rim Resort. It is kind of a tradition for my family and friends, but this will be the first time to take our OWN TT. I definitely can't wait to experience in our own "home on wheels".

Inks Lake is one of my favorites. I used to tent camp there when I was in college. The wildlife and scenery is some of the best. Thanks for the advice. I have heard some horror stories about Garner though. Some have said if you don't lock down your coolers they may turn up empty. Just hearsay though
