Smile 2nd time a charm.....maybe?

I am new to this forum and I call Cortland NY home. I decided to join because I plan to purchase a Flagstaff T12RB in the near future. My wife and I are thinking about driving to Denver Colorado from Cortland NY while camping along the way. I could use some help with planning from some of you road and camping veterans out there; the last time I was in the Denver and Salt Lake City was 33 years ago and I am sure things have changed a lot since then.

I made my first visit to the SLC area for work last summer, and really liked the area. Take some time to see Promontory Point, site of the driving of the Golden Spike. Some beautiful country... Wish I had had the opportunity to drive out & back, rather than flown.

I will likely go NY17W & 86W along the Southern Tire Espy, then I-90 W/ Toledo/Ohio go through Indiana and Illinois, enter into Iowa towards Des Moines, then Nebraska and into Colorado and reaching my destination at Littleton. That's the basic plan, can anyone recommend some points of interest and places to camp?
