Hi everyone picking up my 38 CK Cedar Creek 5th wheeler on Tuesday I have a ram 2500 what is six and a half foot bed I was told I do not need a slider fifth wheel can somebody give me a little info on that thank you

I have a slider hitch and have yet to use it in 6 years. Just my 2 cents.

Hi; and welcome to the form!

I too pull with a 2500 Ram Mega Cab 4X4 6.7L 6 speed auto and the bed length is 6’.5” long. I have a CC34RL with the Trailair pin box on the trailer. I also have a 16K Reese manual slider hitch in the truck bed. Do I use this? Yes; every trip when I put the camper in the driveway at home and sometimes in camp grounds with narrow roads. To me it is just one less thing to worry about when trying to maneuver the 5er around engage the maneuver position and forget about the front hitting the cab. By the time the 5er gets close enough to hit the cab it will be too late.

I even hit the cab of the truck just once with my old 318SAB Cougar in a parking lot trying to maneuver between a tree and the opposite side curb. I did not extend the hitch and I just barely hi the cab but there is a small dent. The Cougar had the 88 degree corners on it which most of the time I could maneuver more than I can with the Cedar Creek.

I also have also always stated there are two types of users who tow a 5er with a short bed truck! Those that have hit the cab and those that will someday; stuff happens.

It is also better to have than not have a slider when needed.

Using a Reese elite airborne sidewinder on fiver and Reese Elite 16k hitch in 6.5 ft. truck bed. Eliminates need for slider. I didn't want to have to engage/disengage a slider. FYI Pulling a Salem Hemisphere 346 QBUD you can google a picture to see how the front end compares to your rig.

I also have a 38CK and tow with a Ram 2500 mega with deisel. I had a Reese slider and used it twice. Got rid of that a replaced with a pull rite slider. Best move ever. It slides automatically with out having to get out to pull a pin. Was a little tricky to line up to hook up or unhook, but after 3 or 4 times great!

Welcome from SW Georgia - I have a Reese 15K slider and use it nearly everytime we go camping to get it out from under the shed and then on the other end to get into our spot if needed. But it depends on where the king pin on the 5er is located. Forward of the nose of the 5er or just under the nose.

I use mine on tight spots only for peace of mind. I hit my cab $600 on last RV with radius cap and I did not enjoy the PAIN!!

I do not believe you need it; but don't trust me, I whacked mine!!
