Just put a down payment on a Rockwood 2904. We're fairly new to the RV life, but have been enjoying our 26' Skyline Texan for the last year.

I'm very excited about the new RV, but a little apprehensive about the added length. I've upgraded to a Propride hitch and a Tekonsha P-3 Proportional brake controller so I think I'm set. Anything else I should look to buy in order to make the towing experience as easy as possible?

My TV is a 2011 Tundra, 5.7L which should tow the new TT without issue. But the small gas tank means a lot of stops at gas stations, many of which are tight fits, so I hope the combo tows well.

Looking forward to this new TT. Great layout and plenty of living space.

lol I went from a 13' TT to a 17' hybrid' to a 27' TT to my currant 34' TT and added WB going to a Ram 3500 4 door 8' box. I use to not think twice about getting off the interstate to get dinner or gas now I no longer just pull off somewhere because there places I don't fit so I stick to truck stops for eating and fuel.

I have seen many more rv friendly stops in fl, ga. and sc. I do ck online for pilot etc and have found many easier stops. Islands just for rv's are easy in out.

once you pull it a couple of times you'll be a old pro just be a little more cautious and brake a little earlier and you will be fine,i'm like mike above i have a F250 crew cab with a 8ft bed and a 34ft trailer so the total length is 53ft and your right you dont just whip it in anywhere and we try to
plan for that. enjoy your New TT and dont sweat it.

Whenever we switched to a new trailer (shorter or longer) we always practiced in a parking lot - just like with the very first trailer we had - an old Jayco pup.

Sometimes the longer trailers actually were easier to maneuver then the shorter ones but they all had their little quirks so a bit of practice time was useful.

Pay attention to the new turning radius and practice tight maneuvers that you will find at certain gas stations and in smaller CG sites. The trailswing will probably be different. Make sure to learn how the TT's rear moves when making tight slow turns moving forward and in reverse.

The views from your side mirrors will take some getting used to with the new TT.

Pay attention to any height differences with this new TT vs your old one.

Enjoy your new rig. Good idea on getting that Propride hitch. Let us know how that turns out for you.

i went from a 28' pulled by an extended cab F250 to a 35' pulled by a F350 crew. the difference in tracking was a lot more than i expected. allow more than enough swing when turning. i followed that rule and still came up close on more than one occasion.
on the hwy, i don't see much difference. enjoy the new trailer. until u get the feel for it, allow extra turning room.

Thanks for the advice. I'm completely on board that the keys are practice, planning and patience. Can't wait for our maiden voyage the weekend of March 30th. I'll let you know how it goes.

Have a great trip, you will know what to do, and after a few turns you will now what you should and can do. Their are always limits.............Have fun

I always look for places that are either huge and wide-open or that have lanes that are parallel to the road rather than perpendicular. Of course, that can't always be done; especially in out-of-the-way places.

If that is bumper pull trailer, you might want to figure that again. The Ford website lists an F250 crew cab with an 8' bed at 21.9'. That, along with your 34' trailer, plus the length of the hitch is going to put you well over 56'.

What got my attention is that I figure my rig right around 49'....and that is with a 28.5' trailer and an F150 Super Cab with a 6.5' bed.

majag86, We just got a Rockwood 2904 ,tow with a 2010 Tundra 5.7 , we traded a 28' Hornet. It pulls great can't tell any difference on the hwy. I do have to watch those turns due to the length. went on our first camping trip last week. we like the 2904, can't wait until next month to go again.

That's good to hear. I know the numbers work for the Tundra and the 2904, but hearing from someone with actual experience on how the Tundra handles the TT is great. Thanks for the post.

I agree with previous posts - go to a large parking lot and practice backing up. My DH has always said backing up with a larger trailer is easier. I learned to back our 16' boat trailer last year and it wasn't easy!! Haven't tried our TT yet, but one of these days....

We also went from 0' to a 32' TT and went from an '02 Durango to a Quad cab Dodge Ram 2500 with an 8' bed, as we tented for 20+ years. I still look behind us on every trip and say "yes, it's still following us." LOL.

Mtnguy that is 34ft including the trailer tounge, i should have been a little clearer on that,on the truck i read some time back and thought it was 19 1/2 but that was a while back,either way its still pretty long but i like it.

Your not going to fuel up there but I've found Cracker Barrel a safe stop.
