Alaskan's retiring in the Lower 48

Hubs and I moved down to WA state in 2008 for a job and the intent of retiring here. He pulled the plug on work back in November and haven't looked back.

We had truck campers and a class A in Alaska. We want more room than the truck camper, but more versatility than the class A. So we decided on a 21SS Roo or Shamrock. Since we're not sure if this is what we really want to be when we grow up, we'll be buying it used. We're pulling with a 2004 Escalade 6.0.

So I'm here to read up, research and try and find our trailer. I'll be putting an ad on the Buy/Sell Forum next.

Thanks for having me,

Celeste

Alaskan's retiring in the Lower 48

Welcome to the forum! We just sold our 21SS last month after 3 years of great fun. I wanted a camper with a little more room for winter camping so we decided on a small bunkhouse. We really did enjoy our hybrid and my 6.0 gasser pulled it just fine. You can't beat a hybrid for living space once setup is done. Our friends called it the dance hall for all the space it offered with the beds out.

BTW, I spent 7 yrs in AK and really enjoyed my time there. First at Elmendorf, then working for APSC.

It's a pleasure to meet you all! We put in a quarter-century in Fairbanks and another few years in Anchorage. Loved it when we were young people but it's not the best place to grow old.

It's also a pleasure to read about your experience pulling the 21SS with a 6.0, flymhi. I can tell you really did love your Roo. I'm a dancer so you warmed my heart with the dance hall comment!

Thanks again, all. Yup, retirement feels like we're living on vacation even when we don't go anywhere!
