Another Nebraska Family!

Hi all! Family from NE joining and looking to give and get help. We picked up our Wildwood X-Lite last year and had a blast. We are really looking forward to the spring and getting back on the road.

Our current project is upgrading to a pair of 6v batteries to replace the weak 12v car battery it came with. Do you have any tips on finding a battery box that will fit the crowded a-frame of one of these trailers?

Other interests of mine are incorporating an Arduino into the trailer's electrical system to add some motion and time control lights, and maybe add in some weather sensors.

Let me know if there is anything you want to know about Nebraska west of Lincoln and Omaha!

Two 6v boxes from Walmart should fit.

Sorry, I should have added a picture and some measurements. The rails for the batteries are welded to the bottom of the a-frame instead of the top like I've seen on other trailers. The front rail only measures about 18.5" between the corners of the WD brackets, even if you disregard the bolts. The box on there now is about 13" long. I don't think I can really move the brackets forward since they are for the chain-type bars instead of the straight-bar equalizer.

Welcome from Missourah!

We travel thru the Nebraska, Oregon Trail country quite often and like to explore the history there of the emigration trails.

We are coming through your part of the country from the North in the last few days of March with plans of going through Kearney, NE to catch the annual migration of the Sandhill Cranes...do you have any insight into that? Stay in Kearney? Or better to stay somewhere other than Kearney? We are on route to Phoenix then but won't be hauling our trailer.
