Another new guy...

Hey,

I'll say hello and so far love this forum. I've been on it a couple days and lots of info here. My name is Gregg, bet you could not tell by my login.

I am somewhat a short time RV'er. I have had a 1978 Prowler that has been pretty good to me for the last few years. Done a lot of fixes/upgrades to it. Learned some winterization mistakes, etc. I wanted to upgrade my TT as my friends and I are doing more excursions and traveling a little further out. I live in Northern Minnesota so most of my destinations will be somewhat short. Lots to do here.

I looked at many floor plans, prices, what can my current truck (old '98 F150, 5.4) pull, etc. I found the Salem 221RBXL as a next step. Brought it home last Friday and have been scouring all my manuals, checking nooks and crannies and deciding some basic upgrades. Even slept in it Friday night in my back yard! So I'll be posting some questions here and there in the near future and hope that I can help others out as well.

Just wanted to say hi and look forward to becoming a valued asset to the forum.

Gregg

Oh yeah. I still have it. I'll post pics after I find out how to do it on this forum. It's in great shape for its age. New Dometic A/C this summer. Never had one before. It's for sale! I know, wrong thread.

A big to the FR forums! Excellent choice on the 211RBXL. Is this the Cruise Lite line? I have the 20 RBXL which is pretty similar to your TT except for the bed area.

Take care!

Yes, Cruise Lite. I'm sitting in it right now watching the election results. I get better reception out here. True.

It is a left over 2012 that I got from Coates RV in Hugo MN.

If you like it half as much as I do mine you're going to be pretty happy. You mentioned sleeping in it - how was the mattress? The bathroom is pretty roomy too. What mods are you considering?

The bed is pretty firm. You do not hit bottom. A pillow top would be nice

First mod I'm going to do is swap out the stereo. There is a Jensen AM/FM/CD player now but I want the Jensen AWM975 with DVD and HDMI. I'm then going to install an HDMI wall plate for the TV.

The TV currently only swivels out 45 degrees. I'm going to get a dual pivot wall arm that will allow it to swing out to 90 degrees so it aligns with the back of the dinette.

That's it for now. What mods have you done?

Yeah, I knew that was something I would replace even before I bought it. I was looking a the Eurotop Innerspring mattress at Camping World. Lots of great reviews. I have a Sleep Number at home. Love to get one for the TT but do not want to spend another $1300. What did replace yours with?

Even with a memory form topper I could feel the ply wood so I replaced the futon mattress with a mattress-in-a-box from Walmart. After the first summer the bathroom fan was replaced with a Fantastic Fan. Also had a small awning installed over the main bedroom window. Later had those lift things installed in the OH cabinets that keeps the doors open while getting stuff out.

Have you figured out how to add pics here? I know another member provided pretty good directions but Forums 101 is pretty helpful too for finding your away around here. See post #7 for pics.

All,

Thanks for the activity on my new thread. This is a helpful forum, no doubt.

And thanks for the help on how to upload pics, but honestly, I have not taken any yet (beside fuse boxes, etc. for my documentation). I have been spending a lot of time "learning" it before I have to shut it down for winter. But how many times have you seen pics of a 2012 Salem Cruise 221RBXL on this site? . I'll get some pics up tomorrow. Life permitting.

RVChick, thanks for the info, and what a beautiful 5er... You're TV compliments it!

And I forgot, I need to put up some '78 pics of my beloved Prowler. Looks like tomorrow is picture day.

Not sure if I have seen a pic of the 2012 221RBXL in the CL line here on the forums. Maybe some pics of the 2011 22RBXL which has the exact floorplan but a foot longer. There are some pics of the Wildwood line which has the same floorplans as the CL line.

Only recently have I come across another CL owner here. Until then it was a bit lonely here for me and in fact thought I had my own private line.
