My name is Tim and my wife and I just purchased a 2013 Surveyor Sport. We traded in a Jayco Pop-up and this is our first hard shell camper. We broke it in Immediately after our walk through. The weather was terrible, we drove in 40MPH wind gust (in a TV thats just big enough for the camper), and had sleet, a thunderstorm and even saw a few snowflakes...and had a great time!

I'd say you are a "camper for life" - We too love it in any kind of weather. Congrats on the new camper.

We have been tent campers for many years and just moved to pup last year. In our tent camping days we were (and still are) notorious for bad weather while camping. We have had tornadoes (about a quarter mile away), thunderstorms (of course) and even the remains of a left over hurricane. While we have loved every minute of it, I must say that now that I am older it is MUCH more fun in a camper

Back in the 60's we were (tent) camping on the outer banks of NC late fall (favorite time of the year to be there). Back then, weather reporting was mainly through newspapers and some rado stations. On the outer banks they didn't want to alert tourists to rotten weather, afraid they'd stay away and not spend money! An epic Nor'easter came in - probably close to hurricane force. Away from the campsite, we lost everything - and I do mean everything: tent, food pantry, clothes, sleeping bags - I guess they all went into the ocean or the sound. That cured me of tent camping!

Wow that is scary. Outer Banks used to be one of my favorite destinations. I only camped there once as a teenager. I really like it out there.
