Hello out there campers. I am a brand new one. Just bought a 2013 Salem Cruise Lite 25 footer. Pulling it with a 2008 Ford with a 5.4 V-8. Pulled it 60 miles home and man was I impressed. My brother went with me and he also was shocked with how it pulled. Bought it at Daves in Claremore OK. I am a Crappie fisherman and retired and am looking so forward to this fall when the weather cools off to be able to camp and fish. Also am looking for helpful hints on the do's & dont's of what I should do. I have been with friends who have campers so I do know about 25% of it. Please feel free to give me ideas.

Congratulations on your new camper. Everyone starts off new sometime and I'm sure you'll pick it up quickly. A few helpful hints would be:

Camp in your driveway or close by for a few nights to become familiar with your camper; especially the water system (how to sanitize the fresh water tank, how to fill it or use the city connection, and how to dump your gray and black tanks), water heater, furnace and AC, fridge and stove/oven, and electrical system.

Climb up onto your roof and take a look around. Does everything look sealed? A tube of sealant should be included with every new camper (but isn't) so you will want to buy one or two now. You WILL need to touch things up before your store your trailer for the winter.

If the dealer installed the hitch, I recommend you review the instructions and their work. Become familiar with the hitch so that you can adjust it as needed once loaded for camping.

Its good to create departure and arrival checklists that you can follow. These will help you avoid those oh-oh moments that we all have gone through.
