Awning Issues
Being a newbie with an electric awning... Do you extend and retract it with the wheels tight or loose? (Sounded much better with the wheels being loose.) Tks!

Loose, you only tighten to pitch the awning once extended.

Loose. They will tell you you can raise and lower the awning with them tight but it puts a lot of stress on the motor and is not worth the risk. Put that on your check list to ensure the nuts are loose. You won't regret it.

Welcome to the forum. Lose when extending and then tighten after its out and make sure to put one side lower tha other just in case you get a slight rain. Enjoy Later RJD

I leave mine loose all the time, even when deployed. I use the awning poles to set the tilt.

Not trying to hijack the thread, but being another newb, I was wondering what knobs/nuts we're talking about? I don't see anything like that on mine. Can someone post a pic? Mine's a Solera.

Do you have a power or manual awning?

It's power, and it doesn't have the same config as crunchman's pic.

Leave them loose unless you want one end or both pulled down . if you just leave it out and loose then it will auto dump any rain water if it rains

Awning Issues
Gspot01,
What type RV do you have? I believe you might have the scissor type awning. I do not believe they have these knobs/nuts. So for you it would not be a problem.

LCI awnings don't have the knob. They have an articulating arm to set the pitch of the awning.

Yes, that must be mine then. Sorta wish I had the knobs, because those articulating arms don't work. Right after I pull them down to set the pitch, they straighten back out again and the awning pops right back to its original position. That's sorta why I was interested in this thread, hoping I was missing something about some knobs to tighten it up.
