Axle and tire concerns

My Grey wolf 26DBH has a GVWR of 7740. The tires I have are rated at 1760 lbs x 4 is 7040 lbs. The front and rear axels are both rated at 3500. This is only coming to 7000 lbs. Does anyone know if this seems correct.

Yes, Your GVWR is calculated from your axle and tongue weight. The tires don't really play into this calculation, but I personally, like to have way more tire than axle rating.

You must add your hitch weight to the rating of both your axle ratings. Since your dry hitch weight is 740 lbs and your two axles together are rated at 7000 lbs, this equals 7740 pounds. The same weight as your GVWR.

First, welcome.

Second, yes, it's likely correct. When looking at axles and tires you have to subtract tongue weight from that number. So, assuming your tongue weight is 750lbs that brings you to 6990lbs. So you're 10 pounds under weight, if I guessed your tongue weight correctly! Woo hoo!

I'd weigh it, you can do that pretty easily with a bathroom scale, a board and a couple of lengths of pipe. Find out what your actual tongue weight is then subtract that from the GVWR. That's what is carried on your axles.

A trip to the CAT scale would be good info to have also. Loaded for a typical trip.
