Good Evening All,
Sorry for the long post but I wanted to say hello and share our story as well as thank those that have helped us out.
Our youngest son was born with a rare genetic disorder called
Angelman syndrome.
He was recently selected for a "wish" from the "
Make-A-Wish and the wish is to travel to other states and meet other "Angel's."
Once we found out I reached out to Forrest River to see if they would work with Make-A-Wish and help us get into a Travel Trailer, for the journey. I was contacted and informed that they couldn't work directly with us due to they could not sell or provide RV's directly to individuals but if we were to find a dealer that would work with us that they could work with that dealer.
This is where
Fun Town RV stepped up and offered to do whatever they needed to help us out. They then offered us the NOBO 19.7 lower than what they purchased it from Forrest River for. They offered to go even lower, depending on what Forrest River could do, on their end.
Unfortunately, that is where we ran into a snag. The gentleman we were working with from Forrest River only worked with the larger RV division and we didn't have a vehicle that would pull a 5th wheel, so they couldn't do anything. However, Fun Town still offered us the great discount and we ended up getting the NOBO anyway.
This summer we will be making a nation-wide trip to visit other families that have children with Angelman syndrome and we will be blogging our trip. The goal is to just raise awareness and to let our son meet other Angels.
We've reached out to other companies to see if they would help us by providing add-on's and/or extra's that would help us, along the trip and we have been VERY blessed for
WiFi Ranger is going to provide us a device to help with WiFi signals,
RV Lock is providing us a keyless door lock so that we don't have to carry the key with us everywhere.
We have a local company that is providing a wrap for the back of our NOBO to help raise awareness and a reporter who is doing a story on our trip so we are so very excited.
If anyone has any tips/suggestions for us, please feel free to share, for we have never owned an RV before but we are definitely ready.
So far I have done the following things, since we will be living out of the RV for about two months:
1. Put a 12" queen mattress in.
However, I had to rebuild the headboard and raise it as well as add padding on it so that our son doesn't hit his head on it. I moved the power plug and added USB ports to it.
2. Added corner and edge padding all around, where needed due to we don't want our son to hit his head anywhere.
3. Added a paper towel rack above the sink.
4. Added a toilet paper holder in the bathroom.
5. Added a solar-powered motion-activated light on the front door. I know that the NOBO has the LED light already but this one will automatically come on if anyone walks up.
6. Will be installing dual propane tank holders instead of just the single tank holder.
I'll add some pictures of some of the add-on's and/or upgrades in a few.
