Brand new to RVing

Well, my brand spanking new FR3-30DS is my very first RV. I've done a lot of tent camping, and trailer camping, but this RV is the first. Sweated bullets driving this thing home too. Biggest thing I have ever gotten behind the wheel of. So now it is time to do some 'dockside certs' for a few weekends before heading to some local state parks.

trying to figure out how best to lay things out inside, and outside. and trying to see what kinds of upgrades I can make (solar panels, etc.). So if anyone has suggestions, let 'er rip..... Mike

Congratulations on your new FR3 30DS. I have a new FR3 28DS on order. I cannot give direct advice but I plan on starting with installing Fantastic attic vents with covers.

Just one of great threads in Forest River Forums > Motorhomes > FR3

Welcome to the Forums and congrats on your FR3 -- there are a lot of FR3 owners on the forums so I bet you will get a lot of great ideas!

Here is your first expense: Get yourself a Progressive EMS (I recommend the Hardwired model) You have a LOT of expensive electric components in your coach and you want to protect them from voltage spikes and brownouts!

Congrats!!! And just so you know, trailers and popups and even 4-wheelers are RV's too.

Thanks. I already bought a 30A hard-wired unit that I will be hooking up as soon as it gets a bit warmer. And I also got a FlowJet macerator. I will also be looking into a small (1.1 cu ft?) freezer and possibly a washer/dryer combo.

I'm also going to put in a second independent 20A circuit for any of these add-ons so I don't have to depend on coach power.

Just curious, is a FR3 a 30amp coach?

Congrats and welcome!

An aside... depending on the geographical location, many folks call their Travel Trailers, 5th Wheels and Toy Haulers... RV's.
It isn't limited to motor home type units.

After all, RV stands for Recreational Vehicle.

ENJOY!

Yep, at least my FR3-30DS; without the 'X' package option.
