Cold mornings suck for motorcyclists

Morning,
Ive been on board for awhile. Just got back from OEF in Aug and seriously trying to catch up. My wife picked out a 2007 Georgetown XL 359 and purchased it before my return so Ive been getting rearranged from Colorado Springs to Kansas as my duty assignment. Love the extra room and towing ability. but damn does it ever quit blowing here?
Becky and I both ride HD, She has a 2012 1200 XL HD 72 Sportster and I ride the 2011 Ultra Classic. So far haven't had much time to ride but looking forward to Spring and Summer. We have a trip planned to ride up to Glacier Park in Montana and over into Canada for a week. Should be awesome.
Anyway, Stay warm and bring on the riding weather!

Thanks for your service. don't feel to bad I live in north central Texas and my Trike only gets used on the weekend when we have one warm day.

At least you get to choose. For the last two years before we emigrated in 1968, I worked as a development/test engineer at Norton Villiers. My two programs were the Norton Commando road bike and the AJS Stormer moto-cross machine. I rode the Commando 500 miles a day (in 8 hours) for several weeks in October and November. I couldn't say it was too cold or too wet.

I vividly remember one comment from a fellow worker "That patch of ice that caused you to fall off is the surface that 18-wheeler is trying to stop on."

Neat job, but it didn't pay very well, which I why I came to the US to work for Boeing.

My wife and I used to ride our Goldwing to look at Christmas lights. Coldest ride we ever took was on a New Year's day, 0 degrees. We went 20 miles.

I never 'officially' put my bike away for the winter, but I do start to add Stab-il around late November. At least once a month I make it a point to throw on fleece lined jeans, my chaps, and a good coat and gloves and I'll do a 10-20 mile ride, as long as it's over 30. Gotta keep the battery charged up after all!

Although this being New England, yesterday it was -3 and tomorrow it will be 40, so doesn't take too much patience to get a decent day.

My tolerance has been changing. Used to ride as long as it was 40 or better.
Now it better be 50 and sunny!

yes it does. most people don't understand the whole wind chill when going down the freeway at 60+ i have pretty much parked my bike till spring

im at the 50 degree plus drive weather myself. it warmed up here i was able to ride Friday. rain moved in and now cool to cold along with it
