considering buying TT

Hi, new here. Well the wife and I are contemplating buying our first TT. I am trying to do as much research as I can and now I'm more confused than when I started. At the local dealer I've narrowed it down to either a 2012 coachmen Catalina271 BH or a 2016 Flaggstaff microlite 25BHS. Similar floor plan, But totally different construction. Does anyone have any input on which one may be of better quality ?The catalina is stick and tin and the other is aluminum and glass. I keep reading about all the trouble people have with brand new units and that scares me especially for what they cost. Also been reading about the fiberglass sides delaminating if a leak develops. I guess that all this research is making me second guess getting a TT but I really want to be able to take the kids camping like my parents did for me when I was young. Thanks for reading, now back to scouring the web for more info... looking forward to hearing your opinions and experiences.

Welcome to the forum!

Suggest looking around here and post to that forum your questions on each type unit.

I would go with the aluminum and fiberglass. All rvs are likely to have some problems and it helps to be handy so you don't have to rely on hit or miss warranty work. That being said, I wouldn't let that stop you from buying. Some of our kids fondest memories are camping. 25 years and 4 campers later my wife and I still enjoy rving.

I will follow this as I am in the same boat. Really excited but I research a lot before making purchases and the more I learn of build quality I feel it would just be a money pit. I am pretty handy but have never had an RV before. Looking at either the 21fbrs or 25 ks microlites.

IMHO.....FWIW.......you absolutely must keep the "Upper/Hand" on water leaks.......water intrusion is a death sentence .......everything else is "Fluff"......again FWIW.......

While usually not good investments, rvs aren't necessarily money pits either. I've spent really very little on upkeep over the years. Most problems are cheap to fix for a DIYer. As was said, water leaks are going to be your biggest enemy. When looking at trailers, be sure to look past the decor and eye-catching decals. Many campers look similar at first glance but what materials the rv is built with will often dictate how long it will last. For example, is the structure and the wheels aluminum or a wood structure with steel wheels? Are the countertops solid surface or laminated particle board?
Happy shopping!

Since looking further into this venture I stumbled across a company called cross roads. There is a keystone/crossroads dealer 5 min. from the house I never knew was there. After doing a little searching I hear good things about them; well, fewer bad things. I will be looking into them a little further..Thanks for all your input.
