DM2652 nightmare

I have looked everywhere for similar problems but this is evidently quite unique. DM2652 works great on propane. Switch to electric and will keep cold for about 48 hrs. You can tell right when it quits cooling, I have a thermometer in the freezer. Switch back to propane cools to -2 in freezer in no time, go back to electric stays cold continuously for 2 days then quits....help. Have already replaced eyebrow and back circuit board.

Wow; that is a head scratcher for sure. Does the ac fuse on the rear control board blow when it stops working?

Maybe the element is overheating and tripping the stat for the element and it is not resetting.

Doesn't throw the fuse, ordered a new heating element, it is to come in today and I'll try that.

Another tidbit to confuse things more, the only time I can get it to work on shore power is after it has run on propane and got cold...

DM2652 nightmare

Perhaps a high resistance connection due to a corroded connection is opening when hot.

It could also reduce wattage available for heat when it does work.

Keep alert for corrosion when you change out the heating element.

Element is not heating enough. I bet if you replace it with a good one that is in spec you will be good.

Thank you guys! I will post whether new element fixes it or not. I did wonder whether a heating element can just partially work

I think the "partially work" means not developing enough heat to work properly. Once the coolant gets cool, which in your case the coolant no longer can do its job after a couple of days in your environment. Replacing the heater element more than likely will solve your issues.

Thank you! Just joined today and appreciate the help so far, looking forward to learning a lot from you all!

Update on my problem, replaced the heating element which was an adventure in itself... turned refrigerator on about 2 1/2 hours ago. No change in internal temp yet. We shall see.

Smile Success

Well this morning freezer was at 5 degrees, so far so good! Just wish I had replaced the element first, I didn't realize that it could work sporadically, or not to its full potential! Thanks for your input and being my sounding board! Hitting the road soon!
