FAAGUY signing in

We, myself (George) and my wife (Gail) just joined the forum. Were new to RV'ing but have owned a cabin in the Smokies (Wears Valley, TN) for many years. I'm fixing to retire from 20+ years in both the U.S. Navy and the FAA. My wife was a charge nurse for 25 years. We live in north central Alabama (Vinemont) just north of Cullman, AL. We just purchased a 2011 Forest River Berkshire motorhome with just 7649 miles on it (Looks and still smells new). As soon as I pull the plug from the FAA we plan to travel the U.S. and Canada if its still here. Any tips about our motorhome or what to expect or look for when on the road would be appreciated.

You will find that scheduled maintenance on a diesel MH is a bit pricey. My recommendation is to plan financially for those events and DO them as scheduled in your owners manual. I've owned and sold 3 class A MH's and each time, it was my meticulous maintenance and records that drew buyers to my unit. Above and beyond this, with diesel vehicles it's pay me now or pay me later. You'll also avoid lots of potential grief by keeping all maintenance up to date and minimize breakdowns/trip delays. Good luck and enjoy, class A's are a blast to drive and own!

If you're not already, don't forget to check into the Berkshire forum here. Lots and lots of good info and help.
