Figured I'd Say Hi...

The wife and I crossed into the world of owning an RV today after there was a show in town this weekend. We had been talking about it for a while and the 2016 XLR Nitro U29 was exactly what we were looking for. We weren't really planning on buying new but it's hard to argue when it has the features you want still in the price range you were looking at. Other upshot is I don't have to worry about someone who didn't take good care of her to start.

But, the wife and I are both fairly new to the RV though we had talked about it for a while. We were mainly tent campers except a small kid decided to arrive about a month ago. He's what pushed us over the edge since a lot of our vacation time is spent in non ideal weather conditions, not to mention hunting season in the late fall for elk.

For the most part we're planning on Boondocking, but any tips, especially maintenance/preventative maintenance related I'm all ears.

Good morning and welcome from SW Idaho.

If you have not done so yet take a good look at your fresh water tank and how it is held in.

I figure you may be traveling with a full tank, water @ just over 7 pounds a gallon can stress and break the bands/straps used to hold them in place.

Will do. I'll be picking it up later this week and will make sure to take a look.

Man, a tent to a 5ver. That's quite a jump.

Welcome to the madness and good luck.

Welcome to the forum. I bought new - better to have nothing to worry about from any previous owners, imo.

We also bought new after a not-so-good experience with a used RV; dealer was sly and dishonest. One word of advice- read the manual. Helped us out quite a bit...

Thanks for the advice. I actually started in on the manual last night not to mention every other resource I can find.

I've also started building check lists especially for critical processes.
