First post
I dont know if i am at the right place, but i just purchased a new wildcat fifth wheel 313re from rvw in ohio. When we got back to north carolina to move into our new rv we had a pretty bad experience. I started opening the slides and then heard a loud snap as the bedroom started to open. You can not get into the bedroom with the slideout in. My wife finally squeezed through. The drawer had caught on the slide out and broke the face of the cabinet, drawer slides, and scarred the drawer. Should this be covered under warranty since we had never opened the rv before?

Welcome and congrats on the new unit!
Sorry for your troubles.
I learned long ago to check slide paths before opening
slides for obstructions . You likely will to now!
They should with no problem warranty it.
good luck and have fun!

You are not alone, many RV'ers learn this lesson the hard way. Always check for obstructions before opening the slides. You may have to crawl over the top of the bed to do so. On your model there is a small cabinet door at the bottom left of the entertainment center that should be checked too.
Welcome to the Forums, there is a lot of good info available here. In the Wildcat section of these forums you might ask Wildcat Chris (factory rep) what he thinks.

User caused damage is not normally covered under warranty.
You might get it covered if they agree with "your argument" that the latch was defective.
If you complain about the poor training you got when you picked up the camper, a dealership who cares about your business might help you with some or all of the repair costs.
Most (all?) don't give a hoot once you are out the door, so I would not expect either one.

You broke the drawer, not sure why you would think forest river should pay for it. Everyone makes mistakes. Not everyone expects someone else should pay for them.

I think herk sums it up best!
Plead your case. I think a good dealer should warn you
of this situation.
The door latch should have held in place imo. if this
is a hazard it should have a better latch.

Thanks for all the responses wildcat 313re !!
My wildcat 313re has a bedroom door that opens into the bedroom. With the slide in you can not open the door to the bedroom and can not see or look for any obstructions . I have owned a wildcat 27rk for five years and i always look. This is a brand new rv that we had never opened the slide outs . We just took delivery of the rv on this past tuesday and on saturday after the work week, we moved our other wildcat next to our new one to move. This was our first time opening the slide! All you new wildcat 313re owners better have the dealer open the slide for you. Thanks

Wildcat chris
I am afraid i do not know wildcat chris. How do i get in touch with him? I have been unable to get in touch with any one at the factory or warranty division. Every number i try is the wrong one. Rvw has not responded to my calls as of 5.25pm est. Does anyone have a phone # for the wildcat division?
Thanks

OMG, I took it for granted the door opened into the hallway. What a dumb design on the part of Wildcat. For sure this repair should be covered under warranty.

Here's a link to the thread that Wildcat Chris reads. You might even send him a PM.

If you are not already of member of the Wildcat Camper Forums you might join that as well. Almost all members own Wildcats. My two previous fifth wheels were Wildcats and I was a member of that forum for many years. Here's the link.

If you can't enter your bedroom then I retract my previous post and say absolutely FR should pay for this. That is one crazy design.
