First time Travel Trailer owners and learning
We just purchased a new barely used 2016 Shasta Airflyte and all this Learning about how this thing works is pretty intense. I signed up to this forum because my uneducated butt will be asking a lot of questions.
Realized my water was not getting hot and I think its because it was still in winterization mode in regards to the water valves being shut off. Think Ill investigate more tomorrow. I hope thats the problem. Any quick guides anyone may have would be highly appreciated. Glad to meet you all.

Welcome! You didn't say if the water heater is electric/propane or propane only. Make sure there's no air in the tank or lines by "bleeding" them by turning on the cold side, then hot side of all faucets. Once they stop "burping", light the burner or switch on your water heater and wait for about an hour. You should have plenty of hot water then.

The water heater is turning on which means it is lit. Water is coming out smoothly and is hot for only a few seconds. I think the valves are shut off for hot water supply because we purchase the trailer from a gentleman that hasn't used it for a year and I'm thinking it's still in winterization mode. I'm looking for a guide to show me what positions the valve knobs should be in order for the hot water to work again. I think I found one here in the forums.

Good morning and welcome to the site from SW Idaho.
Sorry I can not help with any specific questions about the Airflyte but the plumbing and electrical systems are pretty much universal.
Post back what you find with the hot water issue, someone here will have answers to your questions.

You need to find the back of the water tank from the inside of the trailer. Let us know how many valves you have. Most systems use 3 valves. (Hot, cold and bypass)
For normal use, you want the hot and cold to be parallel to the water line and the center valve perpendicular to water line. This allows cold water to flow into the bottom of the tank to be heated and exit hot out the top of the tank via the hot water line.

Welcome. Please grab a notebook and record the make, model number and serial number for every appliance in your trailer. Keep this list next to your computer so when you tell us you have a problem, you can get more specific responses from folks who have the same appliance.
Likewise, you'll have that info when you go internet hunting for manufacturer's websites and troubleshooting sites.
There are some real experts here who will gladly share their expertise. Having all that info will aid in their helping you as quickly and accurately as possible.

What I don't understand is why he's getting hot water for a very short time and then going cold. That tells me water is getting into the tank thru open valves and is being heated. Not warm, but truly hot!

Welcome to the forum. Make sure the valves are turned all the way to the on position. Could be someone didn't turn the valves to full on.

Have you found the 3 valves for the by pass? As mentioned make sure valves opened all the way for the hot and cold water and turned parallel to the line and center valve turned perpendicular to water line. Later RJD

With the valves not in their correct positioning, Cold water, via water pressure, is allowed to cross over and mix into the Hot water side causing spurts of "hot" and then "cold" water flow when in use.
When your water flow is idle in the HW tank and not interrupted by turning on the faucets, etc., the water in the tank will reheat and then when needed it will flow out first as hot, and then back to cold again. It will only keep repeating this process until the valves are in their corrected position.
Need to make sure the valves are in their correct summer mode.
When we had our previous HTT we ( newbies then ) had to learn the hard way as well. We had the SAME issue. Once corrected...we were good to go.

Yep. Just noticed the hot and cold were in line but the bypass was also in line. I believe the bypass needs to be the opposite. Thank you for your response.

You are correct.
Turn the bypass valve all the way to what will be the closed position.
