First-time TT owners in Alberta, Canada

Hi everyone
We are a family of four (plus two dogs) who are relatively new immigrants to Canada from the UK.
We've just bought a 2015 Rockwood Signature Ultralite 8311SS bunkhouse travel trailer, and a 2014 F150 3.5L Ecoboost with max tow package to pull it.
We're completely new to this scene, having only been tenting before, though we've done that many times.
We live just north of Calgary, AB, and plan to park the trailer this winter close to the ski hill we use, and stay in it each weekend through the ski season.

We've got the pre-pickup walk-through in a few days with the dealer.
Anything we should be asking him to show us that wouldn't be completely obvious, or he might not want to show us!?

Looking forward to many great trips, and learning a lot from you guys on here.

Thanks
Chris & Olga

Obviously, make sure everything works. Hit every switch, lights and otherwise. Fire up the AC and heater, generator (if you have one), microwave, stove, oven, run your water (city and pump), try your level checks, etc...

Check your refrigerator on AC and gas.

But also, check things like:
window shades (are they lose?)
any seams (check for separation, cracks, water/moisture, etc...)
toilet
windows
vents
faucets
open and make sure all cabinets close and latch
convert any convertible furniture (ex: couch that turns in to a bed)

Before you leave the lot:
check lug torque
check tire pressure

I'm sure there's more that I haven't though of.

Further additions:
hookup and check the trailer running lights before pulling off the lot.

Thanks very much, TheUO, all very useful info. You won't believe how green we are about all this, so what's obvious to you seasoned campers will be invaluable to us. Nothing is obvious to us at the moment :-)

Make sure the dealer shows you were the fuse box is for the slide outs and purchase extra fuses.

Not that they have problems, but you may have a problem at the worst of times. We were packing up for the weekend to head back home and our slide out wouldn't go back in. We learned the hard way.

Most of all, enjoy!

Welcome and congrats on your 2015 Rockwood Signature Ultralite 8311SS. Go to the library tab above and download a PDI checklist.

I chose my terms poorly. You're absolutely right that nothing may be obvious. Even seasoned vets overlook the "obvious" sometimes. Never hurts to ask around.
