First TT on Order - Wildwood 26BH

We have our first travel trailer on order. Waiting for the Off-line date now. Never owned a TT before and can not wait. We have a trip planned from ATL to YellowStone and Glacier national parks this summer. TV is a 2007 Nissan Armada. Not sure what to do about mirrors yet, have the stock non-telescoping mirrors. Waiting on tree company to come and remove a couple trees so that I can store it in the back yard. Any advice and comments welcome.

Congratulations, Pandkm. Looks like your Nissan should have enough horses to pull that rig. We wanted the 26bh as well but, with a dry weight of #4700 lbs, it would have been too much rig for my Tacoma. Settled for a Rockwood Minilite 2306 instead. Can't wait to take delivery and put it to use. I am envious of your summer itinerary. We've been to Yellowstone three times in the past four years and just love it there. My son lives in Bozeman so we have a great motivation to head west. I'm very concerned about the price of gas, though, since the experts predict higher prices this summer. My job was cut so we probably won't make the trip since gas would probably cost around $1500 round trip at $3.00/gal.

Congratulations Paul. We just took delivery of a Wildwood 23FBS a couple of weeks ago. Haven't been able to use it yet and can't wait. We too had to take out two huge trees in our yard. We then had to purchase a powered trailer mover so that we didn't have to make any further yard modifications. The trailer mover was delivered today and now the trailer is in the back where it will be stored. Now to clean and pack while I'm waiting for some warmer weather. We live in Utah and although it will be a while before we can head to the mountains, it won't be long before we can go out into the desert. I have no tips for you since this is all new to us too. Congratulations!

I'll pass along the best advise I received when we purchased our first trailer and were new to the RV world. Don't make your first outing the "big dream vacation". Make a couple of camping trips to a location near home and near resources. RVs don't have the initial quality like cars, they usually have a few quirks to get worked out and being new to RVing, there are things you will have difficulty with and will find you have forgotten something or need something you didn't even think of.

By being close to resources like stores and such, you can purchase the things you need, but didn't bring. By being close to home, if issues arise which require returning to the dealer, you want be so far away. By staying in established campgrounds, if you have questions, I can pretty well guarantee there will be someone around to assist. It is amazing how friendly the RV community is as a whole.

Once you have a few "shakedown outings" under your belt, you'll be ready to hit the road and see America. Have a great time!

Congratulations on your new camper! I would love to go to Yellowstone National park. Hope you share some pictures! I think you have to camp in a camper to know what you need . Then little ideas will pop into your head of making this or that easier, or needing a place to put something. A couple of things we have learned is I don't care how much we have camped we like to take our first outing in the spring near home incase we forgot something. We also have a Walmart close by! Make a list! We should have purchased the outdoor mat like at Campers World along time ago! Don't park under cedar trees! I may like camping but I hate the bugs! You will need a a fly swat & take bug spray for you and the camper! Personal items we always leave inside camper at all times (incase we forget)are at least a jacket , an umbrella, and my husband a hat and a belt, shower kits that I make new every year for everyone! I bought small clear plastic shaving or makeup bags at Walmart and put everyones name on them, and put inside a soap(in holder) tooth brush(in holder), toothpaste, shampoo, conditioner, shaving creme, razor, deoderant, small lotion etc., Everyone loves there own little shower bag. Makes it alot easier! Even for just me and my husband. I also have everyone a foldable bag to carry clothes in just incase they do use the campground shower house and a set of flip flops to wear inside the shower. Just have Fun!

Offline date is 3/4. Scheduled to take delivery of it on 3/11. Just wondering if the dealer did me right on the hitch and brake controller. I have found out that they included the Husky Escort brake controller and a WDH with friction sway control.
