From zero to 2 without even knowing it

A couple of weeks ago I bought an Cargo Mate for $1200 - I noticed in a Craigslist ad that it had what seemed like a wind vane and some solar panels attached to it. Went to pick it up an lo and behold, a whole Off The Grid set up inside, and all working. Trouble is it had never been licensed so started tracking down the manufacturer - could not read the label outside and the dealer was out of business. Finally figured out it was Forest River, called them and they were most helpful in identifying the unit and sent me enough paperwork to register it.

Well, having never heard of Forest River I looked them up and found this site, and even more surprising found out they manufactured the Rockwood Signature Ultralight I bought earlier this year.

So from no Forest River products to 2, without even knowing it!

Have attached some pics of the OTG Trailer, if anyone else is interested in this technology - my son and I have figured out how it all works. So now I have taken all my diving gear out of the Rockwood, and put it in the Cargo Mate where the infinite power supply keeps it all dry and all the batteries charged - next step is to beef up the batteries so I can run my dive compressor of them and tow it when I am away diving in remote places.

What a terrific find! While some people occasionally regret buying a FR product, almost none regret joining this forum.

Ted, besides RVs (around 125,000 last year) and five lines of cargo trailers, come see us if you need flatbed trailers, car haulers, tow dollies, school buses, several lines of transit buses, cargo trucks, multiple types of specialty trucks, pontoon boats, restroom trailers, park models, and more.

As companies go, we're a pretty big deal.

My objective is to set up and test a variety of Solar and Wind combos to tie into my Signature ultralite to make it autonomous - I can already run it off the inverter so long as I don't turn the air-con on. Then add a flatbed trailer with an aquaponics bed on it and grow own veggies anywhere I happen to be - the fishpond part is just a couple of children's paddling pools. Just gotta do some experimenting to get right balance of wind and solar, then figure out the best way to install it all in and on the Rockwood trailer
