Hi Everyone,

We joined this forum to learn more about the Flagstaff Classic Campers after inspecting one recently at a dealers. We are very impressed with the build quality, inclusions and price compared to the Jayco range here which is the equivalent to the Flagstaff one. Our current camper is an off road soft floor camper trailer which is totally different to what you guys have over there, we don`t seem to " do it in style " as much as you do.

The Flagstaff range appeals to us as we still want the camper trailer feeling but with a touch of class. We are looking forward to purchasing our new camper in the next few months and in the meantime I`ll check out photos of your prized possessions and the places you`ve visited in them. I`ll post some photos of our camper and places we`ve camped.

Greetings and welcome from another past colony.... Canada that is.

I have seen the Jaycos (Australian made) you speak of on a trip to your part of the world, very nice indeed and very different than models sold in North America. RVs here are much bigger and heavier. But then again gas (petrol

) prices here are very, very low compared to yours, and tow vehicles are not as large.

if you're considering an American made unit, you must be careful with a few things: mains (electric) is 110V not 220V and the entry door(s) would be on the wrong side for down under..., I believe as well that propane connectors are differents. There may be other differences, so caution is the word.

Thanks for the welcome guys. Scott I`ve posted some photos of our camper and places we`ve been to, hope you like them. As you can see it`s basic camping but we love it.

Dennis, the Jaycos here don`t have the best of reputations, poor quality control. There is a dealership here who specialise in Puma RVs and some of the Flagstaff line and everything is done to Australian standards eg the floor plans are reversed so the door is on the correct side, the electrical wiring is sent over from Australia and the gas fittings and plumbing are installed here and they have Aussie compliance plates.

Frank will change the tyres to a bigger size as your load ratings are different to ours. Your fuel is certainly cheaper than ours but running on LPG is the way to go here as it`s 63c a litre and unleaded petrol is $1.45 at the moment where I live.

Camper trailers are very popular here especially soft floor / hard floor with canvas tents. The campertrailer forum I`m on has 9314 registered members. If you check my photos you`ll see some of our beautiful country.

Very nice pictures Aussie Rob. This is real camping you are doing. What a nice country you are living. My brother has lived in Queenbeyan for several years near Canberra. He crossed the desert alone with his Franklin caravan. At night he was surrounded by hundreds of dingos around his caravan. Keep posting some pictures for us.

Well here in Canada petrol is at $1.22 AD ($1.30 CAD) per litre, so we're pretty close.

Capucine, We have a friend in Queanbeyan and my sister in Canberra and planned to visit them on a month long trip about 10 days ago. On the 2nd day the Ranger asked everyone to pack up as there was going to be a "serious weather event happening" and as it was covering the lower half of New South Wales and into Victoria we had no option to return home.

Everywhere we planned to go has been flooded and some campgrounds have been ruined. It has been a terrible time for a lot of people this last couple of weeks with thousands of homes, businesses and agriculture land and crops being flooded. We can always plan another trip it`s all the people who are going through it that I feel for.

Triguy thanks for the photo link!!! Aussie Robthank you for posting pictures of your adventures! I can't imagine seeing a kangaroo..... I usually scare all wildlife away because I get a bit excited!!!! I am wondering.............. is there a ferry crossing??

Felicia and Jeff,
I`ve added a couple of photos to show how tame kangaroos are around camping areas. They can however be dangerous if approached as they kick with their hind legs but you rarely hear of anyone being attacked.

No can do with the ferry, but we do have a unique one. Thousands of people travel to Birdsville in Central Australia every year for the Birdsville Races. Usually it`s a desert but when it floods this ferry comes into service. I haven`t been there myself but some hardy campers make the trip every year.

Hi Andy,
There is only one legit dealer in NSW. A few people have imported them personally and they are not to Aussie standards.
We have met someone who cuts the drawbars off and welds it on the other end so the door is on the correct side.
