Welcome. Get a 1 ton diesel truck. You can pull anything with it. You won't regret it.

I'll vote the other way.

Pick the toy hauler, then size the truck accordingly.

If you will be doing any pulling through the mountains get the diesel.

None planned, just around the state. Looking at tow guide provided by GM only about 3000 lbs difference between 3500 gas and durmax for 2016. Trucks in 2015 seem to be much more.

Stop toying around, go to a truck dealer and pickup a used Kenworth or Peterbilt.

Drop a few dimes on some smaller tires and move the F/W to the back of the frame.

Fully loaded I doubt you will need to drop a gear.

General train of thought is "no such thing as to much truck"!

Anyway pick the trailer find its real weight add the weight of everything and body you will have in/on/around the T/H.

And then go buy a truck, likely a DRW 3500 or 350 getting near the 4500 450 range.

Gas or diesel is your call because you are going to pay one way or another.

Was told the same thing when I bought my boat, bigger motor..buddy bought one with bigger motor (115 me 150 him) he gets top end speed 5 mph faster than me, but spent more money.

Dually will not fit in garage nor shop doors (pole barn) and I dont even want to know the cost to adjust so it could. So I guess I am somewhat limited to SRW.

My neighbor does have semi tractor they use on farm to haul grain.....

I have a list of 8/9 TH that I like but yet to set foot in.... Edge 397 is in lead so far and the Nitro with front living and murphy main bed are top runners so far

Welcome to the forum. If you say your not going to be towing a hole lot then I would go with the gas version truck. Like me I could not justify a diesel for my travels as I only use it for towing other wise it sits. Depending on TH go either 3/4 or 1 ton (non DRW) I tow with my 3/4 ton gas and do quite well with it in my travels so far. I have 4:10 gear which pulls good and average 9.5 mph towing. Get around 18 to 19 non towing. I've pulled some pretty good hills with no issues. Later RJD
