Good Morning from S Carolina

I’ll be honest, I’m a full time Dad with 4 and 2 year olds so time for anything on the internets is limited, but since we’re picking up an AS 30 ft FB Bunk in a couple 2-3 weeks Im deciding on the correct hitch to pull this trailer back home with an 18 Sequoia Sport. Running 20” Michelin 10 ply 285/65. Dealer is set to install an Equalizer but also considered ProPride and now I’m really liking the looks of the Gen Y Flex if I could use it with the Equalizer..
Anyway, greetings.

Welcome to the forum. Just looking at some numbers for your tv and tt you may not have enough vehicle to handle a 8800# tt. This number is total GVWR. Later RJD

I'm not going to get into hitch recomendations, or anything like that, you're going to get plenty of info from great folks who have a lot of experience.

Im just gonna say welcome aboard and enjoy the community, lots of great folks here to help out and its a pretty civil place!

Thanks. Hitch is what I need to decide on next, so feel free to share. It’s going to be either the Equalizer, the ProPride, or Equalizer with Gen Y combo.

Thanks. Yep, I see the numbers. Not an option to swap out TV ATM. Iíll try to keep it within range without going full Canadian.

You will be exceeding the
Wt Distributing Hitch - Max Tongue Wt. (lbs) 740
Even with the TT empty.

Towing cap is about #7400 with a payload around #1200. Not much TV to work with.

That’s correct. Until I get another TV.
I’ll be honest, Pro Pride looks like the best option.
Thanks.

I don't know what an AS 30 ft FB Bunk is but since it is a 30 foot I would imagine the tongue weight exceeds the maximum for your Sequoia, even at 10%. From what I can see in the specs, the maximum trailer weight is 7400 which is also doubtful it being that low on a trailer that long. Most likely you will have at least 1000 pounds of "stuff" inside in addition. Also given the low payload and assuming a 740 pound tongue weight you would be limited to less than 500 pounds that you could put inside the Sequoia including passengers and gear. Check the door sticker to see what it says is the maximum carrying capacity. With a 2 and 4 year old I would not chance it. Just my honest opinion.

Welcome to the forum from MN.
I'm towing a 28ft 5100# 601# (dry weights) Grey Wolf with a Durango, so I'm not going to bust your chops about the trailer. I can make this work because everything goes in the trailer except wife and I, telescoping ladder and couple 5 gal buckets. I don't haul water and our loaded weight is just under 6000#. I've CAT scaled my setup after adjusting the hitch, and both axles are under max limits although tongue (with WDH bars hooked) is 740#, which is 20# over max tongue. The trailer tows great so far, and I might take this over the Appalachians, probably wouldn't take it over the Rockies. This works for me because we tend to camp state parks within 5 hours of home, and it doesn't hurt that MN is relatively flat. Once the Durango is paid off, I can look into another car payment on a truck. Everybody's situation is different.
Good luck.
