Smile Graduating from Tent to TT

My wife and I just purchased our first travel trailer, an '09 Rockwood 8296ss...feeling too old for tents now. I happened across this site while in search of info for newbies such as us. We are very excited to learn all the ins and outs and this looks like a great place to pick up some very valuable information and advice.

I am fairly new to this site also, and have been checking the Forest River website as different models are mentioned. The stats on the 8296SS are: 4284 lbs. axle weight, 703 lbs. hitch weight, and the unit dry weight is 5740 lbs. Am I missing something, or aren't the 1st 2 figures supposed to add up to the last 1??

Still learning.

Chap
