BC Fairys

Ditto, ditto, ditto. It's bad enough having family on the Island and getting goughed to see them, then add in making it that expensive that tourists are going to think twice (if at all), no wonder there's a lot of debate. It makes the shorter stay trips way too expensive. Only longer stays like Caper's make sense. Guess it can only take near empty ships to get the message through. In the meantime, my trips will be by motorcycle - half price vehicle, at least, and also guaranteed on. But really, how's that a solution?

Actually IMO that's the problem. The government isn't in control anymore, hasn't been since about 2003. That's when it went private and is subsidized by the government. So now its all about profit to them, it should go back under government control, be a part of the ministry of highways and get hs from A to B with as little cost as possible. No frills, just a ride.

We are thinking of going over in a couple of weeks to visit the MIL in chilliwack and show off the newest member of the family (6 weeks old) but for the 5 of us its about $180 to go over and back, like what!?

It is a shame when one person can fly from Naniamo to Vancouver for less then it would be to take the ferry (from down town to down town). This would include the cost of the ferry plus taxi form ferry terminal to down town.
