Never camped there but that's a pretty drive up the "great river road". It's about twice as far but I'd suggest heading up to Utica (Starved Rock and Matthisen State Parks) great little campsite nearby (hickory hollow) and the parks are awesome for hiking, pick nicking fishing. Awesome place.
